I've read about that trade, it's legit crazy person-level exchange of assets.

It was an insane amount to give up for an ageing player even during the still run-heavy NFL of the late 80's/early 90's... Nowadays that might get an entire franchise banned for a year, auctioned off and relocated, it would be that outrageous.
