And the last 6 min? I know you just said Patrick Mahomes got them through, but come on. (It was also Damien Williams, not Darren). My whole point was that you just said that to win you need an elite defense (SF) and an above average offense (also SF). Chiefs are an elite offense headed by and elite QB with an above average offense. So to bring full circle, I still say as Ryan goes, so do the Falcons. - SDSabre
So because Kyle Shanahan deviated from what worked and decided to prove your narrative in the 4th quarter instead of mine (running the ball and play defence) all of a sudden you need an Elite QB ?
Drew Brees has lost to Kirk Cousins, Jared Goff, and Cade Keenum in his last three trips to the playoffs.
Shanahan choked, don’t think otherwise. That was the 49ers SB to lose and they gave it away. |

Sure it does. The student athletes generate the revenue that pays those ridiculous salaries |

I think you are missing my point. You seem to be stuck on there's one way to do it. And I'm saying well that's not true. You say the Shanahan deviated. I'm saying that Mahomes may have forced him to because he started going. Hard to keep Mahomes down for long. He's a special kind of special. You have examples showing your way works, and I never disagreed that it didn't (actual prefer it, and as much as I love Rodgers, the D for the Pack has been so average to below it hurts) just saying there are plenty of examples showing the opposite as well. Most recently, the Super Bowl. |

But getting paid early, does that keep them from working as hard to get that pay day. |

I am fine with that. If the bills want to pay Gordon that kind of money.

You're talking about a tiny percentage of players at the collegiate level who will ever earn a paycheck from professional athletics. If an athlete generates revenue through their participation in collegiate sports, they should receive some percentage of the profits. Not a big percentage, but something.
Maybe the head coach at Texas tech will have to make due with a $1m salary instead of $3m in order to finance that |

Like I said in my previous post, I don't disagree. Just don't know how the $ would be distributed amongst all student-athletes, and does the school you go to matter in the compensation. I think the majority of schools would vote no on that, that there must be a flat amount. No need to help out the OSU, Bama, Clemson, Florida's of the world that already have a sizeable advantage on the talent they are getting over smaller schools. It's not just as easy as "Saban makes 12M, give him 1M and distribute the rest" |

It's definitely not a simple problem, that's for sure. I would simply start by saying student athletes in profitable programs will receive x% of profit related to merchandise and attendance. I think there are a few small things that would at least make it more equitable |

I think you run into Title IX problems right away with that, as most women's athletics aren't near as profitable. And smaller programs (like Syracuse, Northwestern, Oregon St., Vanderbilt, etc tried to get a wide range) wouldn't like that because that puts them at a severe disadvantage where they are already losing when it comes to recruiting. |
