Sure but not every play is a 30 yard pass or a 30 yard run.

I understand equating stock market returns to football may not have been the best analogy this morning.

i liked it. Your response made me feel bad for bashing you.

I love reading all these people complaining about what we paid for diggs

1. diggs is a pro bowl WR
2. half the money cooper is getting paid
3. we still have 7 draft packs, no chance 10 drafted players were gonna make the roster

literally about 30% of the people b!tching about the trade

- homiedclown

Not me.... Great trade IMO

Also trading the 21st picks and the 8th pick is very very different
- hubie

The Bills are picking 22 because they addressed their needs sufficiently last year with Brown, Beasley and Knox instead of the football version of Mittelstadt, Sobotka and Mojo. And they set themselves up to make a mostly painless move for a true #1

I know inter-sports analogies dont work perfectly, but Beane is killing it as GM. This is what good management looks like

The trade is solid, but he is in no way one of the top 5 wrs in the game. Not close. poop, there was a good argument he wasn’t the best WR on the Vikings.
- SDSabre

To add:
Thomas, Hopkins, Evans, Allen, Cooper, A Brown (Tenn), A Brown (if he stops being crazy), OBJ, Landry, Moore, Robinson, Jones, Kupp, Adams. Most on this list are 100% better, while others you could make an argument.

But Allen isn’t ready to throw 40xs a game
We overpaid for Diggs
And sped up the timeline for expectations with a QB that still has a ways to go & was progressing at a good rate

If Allen doesn’t take a big step next year,
are we having a discussion about whether or not he’s really a “franchise” qb?

Bc now he’s “got the weapons”

- jdfitz77

Based on what?

Here's the take I like quite a bit;
The combined value of all the picks exchanged is equal to the 20th selection in the 2020 draft.
So in essence, value wise the Bill's moved up to 20th to pick Diggs.
He has a team-friendly contract for 4 more seasons and is a proven #1 receiver who can help Allen immediately.

Good move for the Bills.

I said it to my friends about the DT the colts paid: You pay good players, period. The contract for diggs is good for around a mid wr 1. The PRICE was the draft capital

Agree top 5 was a little bit of a stretch. It definitely allows Beasley and Brown to slot into #2 and #3 WR's where they should be though. I just hope there is enough targets to keep everyone happy and Allen is the leader that can distribute and keep everyone happy. McD's Team First Philosophies will be put to the test. Daboll needs to channel his inner Marchibroda.

Glad the Beane wasnt going to count on a 1st round pick to fill the team's biggest hole next year

Take notes, JB

- jcragcrumple

He's in over his head. He's had 3 years to right the ship. What has he done? Made the Amerks Competitive. That's good. But what about the Sabres?

Brandon Beane has had the same amount of time. 2 of 3 years in the playoffs.

They gave up a lot for Diggs. That's not to say it's a bad trade, but it's definitely not a bargain.
- buffalofan19

Look at it this way.

They gave up
1st rd pick
4th rd pick

The return signified the production for his cap hit no question.

Same reason why the Lightning gave up a first rounder for Blake Coleman this year.

The more players you have outperforming their contracts, the better your team is.

Diggs trade seems to be, on the surface, a win-win. They got what they think is a haul no doubt, and we got the #1 we've needed. This makes the entire WR core a lot better. The Bills don't have the highest end #1, but they now have a very solid WR core. And, it's one less big thing for the scout/draft staff to have to concern themselves with. Focus on the other needs now and prep for a run. This is clearly a win now move, which de facto makes the season more exciting to begin with.

True or false Diggs is the best WR in the division?
Methinks that Edlemans production will be cut in half.

New England gets hit with a $13.5 Million cap hit because of teh way teh contract was structured.

'If he were to sign with the Patriots or another team after March 18, there would be $13.5 in dead money for the Patriots in 2020. That means if Brady signs a deal with a $20 million cap hit with the Patriots after March 18, his cap hit would really be $33.5 million."
