Seguin - odd trade yes.
Hamilton - well he did not want to play in Bos. My understanding is Bruins offered him pretty much same deal Flames did and he rejected it. Maybe he didn't like some of his team-mates (coughmarchandcough)? We don't know. But he basically forced the trade.
Also, there seemed to be something off with Hamilton - personally. Look how long he lasted in Calgary... - Nasty_Duck
That story was floated by Boston in the press. There's no coincrete proof it was true.
Bruins have a habit of suddenly having players they are about to trade appear in stories of them being trouble or wanting out. Seguin had the same thing happen in fact. |

By trading Wendel the Nords obtained (the hated) Claude L. Both Sylvain and Claude helped the Nords winn the Cup. So... who did it work out better for in the long run? Did the Leafs win the Cup with Matts? - Nasty_Duck
Sylvian won the cup for Colorado? Okay... Roy, Sakic, Forsberg, et al might debate you on that...
That was a hugely lopsided trade... Imagine Colorado with Sundin? |

You think Claude Lemieux is the reason the Avs won the cup? Eeeeks. I'd put him maybe 10th on the list on that team. |

That's true to a point... But that Douche Claude brought something Mats didn't ...
A level of cheapshotness / dirtyness . that Col was sorely missing... along with being able to really play. |

That Adam Foote guy isn't too bad. Nor is Deadmarsh. Kamensky?
I wonder if that guy thinks Rene Corbet was also a key piece. |

I wouldn't put him at 10th. He certainly wasn't "the" reason the Avs won the Cup, but Claude was always a beast come playoffs time. Helps that he was probably psychotic. Maybe you put him on a list of all-time "heels" in hockey. Guy had a switch. |

Preach. He was something. Miss guys like that. Sure, Kings and Ducks fans chirp about Brown and (for years) Perry, but no one played the villain like Claude. |

I didn't say he WON the cup for them a$$hat. I said helped.
You do realize he won the Conn Smythe the year before, right?
Though he coasts through regular season he's one of the players that turns it on for the playoffs.
And the Leafs sorely missed Sylvain levfbre once he left. |

Rick Martin to LA for the 5th overall pick that turned out to be Tom Barrasso. Rick Martin was hurt and basically done.
Martin underwent surgery in Toronto and on March 10, 1981, Scotty Bowman traded Martin and Don Luce to the Kings for a pair of draft picks, one of which the Sabres used to get goalie Tom Barrasso in 1983. Martin played four games for the Los Angeles Kings before hanging up the skates |

Barrasso beat out Yzerman for the Calder. He deserved it. He had some good years in Buffalo and won 2 Cups with the Pens. I'd never say Barrasso was a great goalie but he was very good. |

So it was just the Boston press... you KNOW this right?
He lasted same # years in Calgary. That was a coincidence I'm sure...
So two players is a "habit"? Ok bud. |

I hated Claude so much during the Red Wings/AVS rivalry but he was so clutch in the playoffs. I always admired that about him even though he was a turtling, spot picking, chicken$hit turd! đ Would I take him on my team? Heck Yes. |

I'm not gonna ding you on typos, I just figured you, as a hockey fan, would know that the Nordiques franchise relocated to another country and changed their name prior to winning the Stanley Cup.
Just a poke, calm down Sparky. |

One thing is certain. There's no way the Habs trade Patrick Roy to the Nords. They had no problem gifting him to the Avs though. âšī¸ |

Is there really any other as bad as Stephane Beauregard and a 4th round pick for Dominik Hasek? - Mentalorgasm5
The crazy thing about this trade was that the Jets facilitated the whole thing.
I am not sure you remember, the original deal for Bearegard involved him being traded from Winnipeg for Christian Ruutuu. Than the Sabres dealt Bearegard and a 4th to get Hasek. And, the Jets being the Jets at that time, traded Ruuttuu to Chicago back for Beuregard. This whole thing happened over a few months.

Everyone "helped". They're both well down the list. Without question behind Sakic, Forsberg, Roy, Foote, Kamensky, Ozolinsh, maybe even Mike Ricci and Deadmarsh.

The Bruins have made some gem trades in the last 10 years.
Rich Peverley to the Boston Bruins along with Boris Valabik. In return, the Thrashers received Blake Wheeler and Mark Stuart.
Then they traded Seguin, along with Rich Peverley and Ryan Button, to the Dallas Stars in exchange for Loui Eriksson, Reilly Smith, Matt Fraser and Joe Morrow. - Mahewman
Peverley was key to winning the cup, and the Bruins werent gonna pay wheeler. We might have won two if he hadnt broken his leg in one of the toughest hockey shifts I've ever seen. |

Thought that was Gregory Campbell...
But you are correct - without Gregory Campbell we would not have won the CUP - League would have called waaaaay more penalties on us if he wasn't on our roster.
