Lots of good questions .I like the uncertainty .
Should this be the system going forward? Mystery draft date, mystery league start, mystery TDL... it's a new NHL |

As far as playoffs and the season I have two thoughts .
My first thought is end it . I actually think a Cap reduction and a full lottery draft would be fun and good for the league like a cleansing. Cap reduction with two compliance buy outs will let you get two bad contracts and hopefully gives a team a chance to learn from mistakes. The lottery draft will punish the teams that have tanked and give them no advantage for being cheap and throwing a season.
My other thought is a one month playoff March Madness bracket all 32 teams . All monies split evenly . Spread round one over four nights . Single game elimination except the final round which would be a 4 of 7. - VANTEL
Top 16 teams playoff via win % or there really isn't any point to the regular season that was just played. |

I would like the league to take an opportunity to fix some things like 5 year max contracts from 7 . Get rid of the recapture . Have one franchise player.
I like Burkies idea if you win a lottery spot in the draft then the following year you can't draft higher than 6 |

I think they come back June/July, mini-training camp and either a) play to 74 games (4-7 games for each team) and then have the normal 16 teams play, probably with a best of 5 scenario for the first two rounds, or b) jump straight into a playoff bracket type of thing with 24 teams, making the bottom teams work up to get back to a more even 16 team picture.
Stanley cup should be awarded in September at the latest. One week after that draft and free agency. Mini camp end of October/beginning of November, games start halfway through November, and play a condensed 70-75 game season. |

This sounds reasonable. And this would probably be the best way to recoup as much revenue as possible and that's going to be the primary objective of the league (Bettman, owners and players.)
I think Vantel's idea of 5 year max contracts will happen but in the next CBA. The NHLPA would have to agree and they'll want something in exchange. |

Got to have this season mean something. i don't want to have invested my time, and attention and countless hours for it to all just mean nothing.
The players got paid, and yes i was entertained, but it's the emotional investment in watching the ebbs and flows of the team's season and the shared experience with the team's fans... that has to have some meaning otherwise it's all just a waste. |

i like 5 year max contract, no recapture, NO franchise player, lowest paid guy can't be paid less than 25% of the highest paid guy on the team.
If you win one of the top 3 overall picks you can't win a top 3 pick the next season unless you expose the guy you got the previous year in the current year draft. |

The responsible thing would be to shutdown the league for the year, start again next year. Unfortunately. |

Agree. They aren’t going to get this thing going again before September, even that seems like a long shot. |

By the way, my youngest daughter was confirmed to have Covid-19, she felt awful for three days but is now feeling better without any medication, just self isolating. I’m more worried about my investments than her. |

Everyone handles this situation differently.
Went to Royal Columbian Hospital today and the highway was empty and so was the hospital's parking lot. Now it is March Break and traditionally we do slow down during this time but people are taking this self isolation/social distancing seriously.
It is a bit disconcerting to see hospital staff walk past you in full hazmat suits while I have a small bottle of hand sanitizer to protect me. |

From what I’ve read and understand, the elderly are the ones who are at greatest risk, it’s them we’re shutting the world down for. If they get sick in great numbers it’ll overwhelm our hospital systems, like you’re seeing in Italy, who has a large elderly population. |
