From what I’ve read and understand, the elderly are the ones who are at greatest risk, it’s them we’re shutting the world down for. If they get sick in great numbers it’ll overwhelm our hospital systems, like you’re seeing in Italy, who has a large elderly population.
- LeftCoaster

While true, elderly and compromised immune individuals are the most at risk, there are those in the safe zone that end up in ICU with severe reactions as well. Plus, you’re practically an old timer, I wouldn’t tempt fate if I were you.

Yeah, they and the ones with underlying health conditions may overwhelm the system. Younger and healthy people are at a smaller risk for long term lung damage from what I'm reading.
The system wasn't built for something like this and it doesn't seem anyone had a real contingency plan (not that we in the west thought something like this could happen here.)

Ha - I’m a healthy individual, it’s the 70+ crowd that we’re trying to protect.

While it won't kill you, you should worry that it might leave you in the vulnerable category for the next one or your future decline due to age. 😉

You are mostly correct .There are people in their 80s healthier than some others in their 40s . It does depend on the individuals regardless of age but the chances increase the older you are.

I respect the virus but I also feel even if I did get it i would more than likely walk out unscathed.I am more concerned about getting shot by someone robbing my food supply not that I have a lot (2 week supply).

Oh I’m practicing the social distancing thing, keeping myself in smaller crowds, but I’m still living my life.

That's just because no one really likes being around you. You've practicing it for years. Now you've just turned pro. 😉

And for the record, regarding EK’s blog, the Neely trade is far from the worst of all-time. Although it was pretty bad.

Pederson was bad, Neely a HOFer. It’s not the worst, i think jagr or hasek was the worst

Not the same sport but where do you put DeAndre Hopkins for David Johnson? Makes you kinda glad to have the place in AZ I bet.

Leafs trades always bring a chuckle. How about how Niedermayer ended up on the devils? And rask in Boston.

she’s fine, it’s not life threatening for her. She lost her job (laid off) but thats manageable.

Thanks Carol, we use the Calm App at home regularly, I still haven’t heard the end of Blue Gold yet works like a charm.

Sitting in my home office doing some work, looking out the window. I know the circumstances are very different, but I get the same feeling as I did years ago, September 11... The world has changed forever, hopefully we can learn from this experience once we have had time to recover.

I love hockey, but it’s the furthest thing from my mind right now. Cheers all, see you at the picnic.

It's funny - Blue Gold gets prime real estate on the Sleep Stories page, but I don't think I've ever listened to it. I generally prefer the female narrators. I'd say The Waterfall is my go-to, but I'm glad there's so much new content coming on board all the time.

I also like "Gently Back to Sleep" over on the Meditations page.

Calm was doing a promo with LeBron earlier in the year - I think trying to entice more men/sports fans. I suspect world events will deliver them more subscribers than that campaign ever could have.

By the way, where's Nucker these days?

Have you tried the John McEnroe “Rules of Tennis” story? It’s boring, but his voice doesn’t lend itself to trying to fall asleep. It’s more like it makes you want to fight.

Everyone is wondering. Some have suggested they have seen him posting at HF Boards. It’s too bad, he is a valuable member of the community.

Raycroft was at least understandable and played. Hasek got traded for a 4th and jagr for three guys that played maybe 40 nhl games combined.

Phil Esposito and Hodge for nothing was way worse. Changed the Bruins franchise for many years.

I think it’ll work for both teams

Leafs trades, in a bad way, always warms my heart. They’ve been trading away prospects and draft picks for a “shot” at the Cup for 50 years....and it’s never worked, not even a finals appearance
