I think with the possible lost season and fans with lost wages Sports is going to take a big kick to the stones.

I not only see cap reduction this year coming but also for the next year or two to follow depending on how long this pandemic goes on for.

With the world being laid off people will not be able to afford season tickets or 200 dollar evenings out for a game.

It is going to be a sports wide problem not a Canuck problem haha.

NFL is going to get hit hard and free agency is now .

Mother Nature is doing a self cleansing maybe others should follow

I would be surprised if some teams, lik Florida, New Jerse and Carolina, will be able to survive this.
They already have attendance problems.

Very possible the cap will not recover for a while. Teams will need a lot of ELC players more now. Good thing Canucks have some of those with kids like Lockwood becoming an option.

Michealis is an older two way play making center, He could challenge for a spot in training camp( Sutter?) .

Markstrom is healthy and would have played this weekend. We want him to be part of this team in the future ( a priority)

Most scouting has already been done and local interviews were done by the local scouts. We may resort to doing Facetime instead of a Combine.

He has talked to other GMs daily but with the uncertainty is a lot of hypothetical talk.

He talks to agents but again not knowing the cap not much can be done.

He is not sure how the NHL will handle playoffs or cap .

He feels team has met expectations this year.

Thanks man

Going to my girlfriend's sister's place down in rural PA. Although, a co-worker of mine's boyfriend just came down with symptoms yesterday (his co-worker tested positive). Thankfully I haven't seen her for 9 days now and she doesn't have symptoms, so I'm thinking the timeline is on my side....

thanks for the info. much appreciated.

the only thing we're sure about is the uncertainty. can't plan rosters without knowing the cap outlook.

i agree with your outlook that there's probably going to be some big changes league wide.

Ya, the US has sucked at testing though, so that's not surprising it's a big jump. Lots more people out there that have it that can't even get a test.

Bring plenty of disinfectant for your trip.

I don't follow football at all but I think the Bucs suck don't they? The 50 mil is guaranteed .

I really question crowd support when sports starts back up. I think with lost wages and public awareness of social distancing is going to affect crowds. That said the beaches in Fla were jam packed yesterday for Spring Break.

the bucs have sucked but there are some bright spots. last season (1st for their new coach), they improved their defence a lot. their offense wasn't great but that's also because they had really bad (inconsistent to say the least) qb.

people are saying that brady doesn't fit with the head coach's style of play but the coach will probably modify it to fit brady.

are they a super bowl contender? probably not. but they are a playoff contender that has a shot to compete for the championship if everything goes right.

...but then again, mark messier was the missing piece too.

If the Cap ends up going down, I hope the league gives teams a compliance buyout.

Compliance buyouts seems like a solution. I had heard months ago by Freidman that the cap was going up substantially . If he had that info months ago so did GMs and probably planned the TDL and signings accordingly.

Another solution which is very unlikely is to have a UFA /RFA freeze for one year with a cap freeze also.

Seeing most of us are Armchair GMs I like the challenge .

Nope Loui is not a RFA or UFA next year. All other contracts are business as usual.

Like I said it is a crazy idea

i think there will be a compliance buyout....

but, it's only been done after new CBAs were agreed upon. i'm not sure what the NHLPA's position would be on the matter. i don't think the league can arbitrarily apply such a measure without agreement from the players.

when making substantial changes to player conditions (and contracts would fall within that), they need to be agreed upon by both sides.

there are so many factors in this that it's going to be chaos over the next few months.

I think they will have talks seeing these are unusual circumstances.

It could come down to business as usual with a cap cut . I would be okay with that also. You might have players on the team like Lind and Rafferty instead of Tanev and Taffoli but again this would be a a league wide problem . Free agents would have to sign for a lot less or play in NJ Ott or Det if the owners open up their check books .
