Saturday night we "made" the kids watch Airplane.

We are now trying to figure out other classics they need to watch.

Feel free to make suggestions (they are grade 9 and 6).

I may put on Dumb and Dumber tonight.

- Atomic Wedgie

Uncle Buck, the National Lampoon movies.

Did the kids get the Airplane stuff? It seems pretty dated. Is OJ in that one?

What is wrong with you?

Reminds me if Naked Gun, where they come out of the theatre laughing, and they plan to the marquee and the movie they were watching was Platoon.

Canadian Bacon is pretty good.

John Candy was a legend.

Not a fan of those silly Lampoons/Caddyshack/Airplane movies.

He accused me of killing people by causing panic by saying this virus is real. He thought it was hyped by the media and CDC and offered some Dr. Drew, a Fox News guy (and host of MTV’s Teen Mom and Teen. Mom 2, Reunion) as expert opinion. It’s possible it was Tumbleweed or JFJ who pulled that guy out.

I don’t care if someone disagrees with me because I am very occasionally wrong but I thought the suggestion that I was killing people was a little over the top. Not even Max kills people.

Those guys had a massive hot load of humble pie bukkake tsunami explode all over their faces in the space of a week. Also, they are light years away from basic knowledge acquisition and critical thinking skills about the subject. It's like watching a concussed Frankenstein try to order a pizza with a cellphone; sorta funny, but scary and really, really sad.

He was. Uncle Buck is a beautiful movie. I remember seeing Candy in an airport and being impressed by how (frank)ing cool he looked. He was wearing this great mohair or something coat and he really looked good.

Lololol

So Commando is okay then?

I don't know, what's age appropriate? I mean you could just throw them in the deep end.

Okay let's compromise with The Exorcist. The little girl is the hero in that.

Canadian Bacon was funny.

Black sheep and Tommy boy. Or Beverly hills ninja. Chris Farley was pretty hilarious back in the day. Those aren't all bad for kids either I don't think...

It's a beautiful story of paternal love too.

I would be a terrible parent.

I can't even watch the Exorcist now, that makes me piss myself.

When American politics turns into a cult, who needs critical thinking. “We have it totally under control. One day it’s totally going to disappear like a miracle.”

It reminds me of these people I met hitchhiking in the 70s who all moved up into mountains near Radium BC waiting for the comet Kahotek that they thought was going to kill ALMOST everybody in the world. I always wondered how they felt when they came down and went back to their lives. What are these Trumpers going to do when he’s gone? Start a civil war?

It's the disdain for expertise that amazes me. I understand suspicion of the establishment, but there is such a thing a science.

Especially these days, it was so easy for me to sit and listen to several hours of leading epidemiologists who are directly involved in this. On my phone! I didn't know much about pandemics and this virus before. After that discussing it with some folks is just pointless. This post-truth dismissal of facts is bizarre.

Of course the ease by which that expertise gets to you gets all kinds of bullpoop around as well and anyone who just wants to take a contrarian view can find their own expert. That all gets exploited by efforts to call things fake news or create alternate fakes that throw enough things into doubt to legitimize and exploit everyone’s pre-existing views.

Anyway, I suggest we just burn a few witches and solve this whole virus mess.

No, no, no Canada Cup. You've got it all wrong.

This is a punishment by God for all of our sins. A plague for things like Rock and Roll, strip clubs, and questioning creationism. Therefore the only logical thing to do is to pray to our lord and savior, Satan, to save us from that mean old fogey living in the clouds somewhere.
