I was thinking of him yesterday. He went to Australia to visit his daughter and grand daughter. I think he left the day after the rugby 7's in Vancouver and said he wouldn't be posting (or reading) while away. I can only imagine that he is happy to be with his family during this frightening time. Hope they are well.

Yeah very likely. Though to be fair none of the high profile UFA signings made at the time by other teams didn't pan out either. Its like having a dud draft year.

Though probably what sticks out more is that the Canucks were on the decline and it was not the right move to shop for a big UFA.

- Brett Hull signs Sean Avery to a 4 year, $15M deal. Avery played 20+ games.

- Jeff Finger in Toronto. 4 years @ 3.5.... Even Leafs fans agree this was a joke

- Bobby Holik - 5 years, $45M

- Wade Redden - 6 years $39M

- The oilers paying $21.25M and 1st, 2nd, 3rd rd picks to sign Dustin Penner to an offer sheet. No further justification required.

- Worst RFA signing was the Flames signing O’Reilly. Had the Avalanche not matched it then the Flames would have given up $2.5MM cash in signing bonus, and a 1st and 3rd pick as compensation to the Avs and then lost O’Reilly to waivers.

Got to be Loui because he's a locker room cancer, useless, and has a gross cap hit that handcuffs our GM.

Myers is a big D-man with some skill and still could have some TDL value if you need to jettison.
