Crazy. I just posted in Serenity that 250 already dead in the US. Last week the US Prez considered this a "hoax". It's going to get real ugly. - bloatedmosquito
It already is ugly my friend.
I wish we were taking more proactive measures than reactive. I'd personally like to see a lockdown and everything closed outside of essential services. The numbers dont really do this thing justice, people with symptoms are being told to stay in and self isolate while testing is reserved for elderly and healthcare. I think its probably safe to say that our local numbers are a fraction how many are actually confirmed. |

I read somewhere where there's a UK study that says that up to 1 mil people in the US could die just from health care centers being overwhelmed with patients getting sick. That's (frank)ing scary. |

That could be one of the dumbest NHL management moves ever. - bloatedmosquito
hey let's not underestimate the dumbness of nhl GMs.
- Jeff Finger in Toronto. 4 years @ 3.5
cliff fletcher signed finger quickly on the first day of free agency. it was later revealed (speculated with some certainty) that fletcher confused jeff finger with another avalanche dman... kurt sauer.
ottawa's decision was wrong in that their hockey analysis was wrong.
confusing one player with another and then signing him to a huge deal is dumb on an existential level. |

There were 1700 hospital admissions in New York city. It's already scary in north america. We need a full scale world lockdown now, and not when healthcare workers are nearing capacity. Results have shown that aggressive testing and mandatory lockdowns have been the given the best results towards flattening this curve. We need to be proactive instead of reactive. |

That I did not know. With today's tech and people (staff and independent) dedicated to scouting you'd think that would be impossible.

You have to remember, this was 2008, before fancy stats, bloggers or TikTok. Scouts were pretty much flying blind back then. |

I'll try not to continuously post about this virus as it's not good to be consumed by it or have other people unnecessarily stressed but I think the more awareness the better. |

There are many cases of minor and mild symptoms, which is fantastic, but now isnt the time to downplay. |

Panic and worry causes stress and weakens the immune system, people need to chill out, we will get over this. |

Two of my co workers have family (extended) who have contracted it. Its inching closer and closer to us. Panicking is never the answer, but neither is downplaying or being complacent. We must be informed, must be proactive, must stay safe.
Just add. Lefty's daughter got it. Darius and his wife had a scare and are people who CANT get it as they are immunocompromised. I'm not telling people to panic, but please dont downplay it for others. |

Well the waivers part is not correct, other than that the price would be a bargain compared to his current value. |

No, you are not correct. Google it if you want the full read, but:
The unsigned forward spent part of the NHL lockout playing with his brother, Cal, for Magnitogorsk in Russia. According to Metallurg coach Paul Maurice and KHL spokesman Shawn McBride, he appeared in games on Jan. 21 and Jan. 23 – both after the shortened NHL schedule was back underway – which meant that waivers were required before O’Reilly could return to the NHL as a free agent midway through the season.
…. That would have created a potentially disastrous situation where the Flames had to send two decent draft picks to Colorado before losing the rights to O’Reilly immediately afterwards. Hypothetically, it could even have been the Avalanche that ended up putting in a waiver claim on the player, assuming that they dropped back below Calgary in the standings by the time he hit the wire at the end of next week. |
