Pence wouldn't be that much better... better hope that Biden wins in Novemeber or the US will be (frank)ed permanently. - DariusKnight
Ya but it’s hard for him to pass much policy in 6 months and he’s very unlikely to get reelected. Honestly, Biden isn’t really any better than either. Im just kind of tired of Trump, he’s so hard to listen/watch |

I saw his speech on the potential damage to the economy, someone had to voice that opinion in their meetings, I do agree that there has to be some tipping point when the lives of hundreds of millions takes precedence over the lives of thousands. It’s such a strange time. - Pacificgem
prior to the virus, you've been very happy about the economy but what you really meant was that you were happy about your investment portfolio.
where was the concern for the deficit steadily rising since 2016 in a time of unprecedented financial prosperity?
where was the concern about the national debt rising to unprecedented levels since 2016 in a time of unprecedented financial prosperity?
where was the concern for the kids paying that off? i find it funny that deficit and national debt only comes into the political discussion when "the other guys" are in power. and then it's "what about the children." so thanks for the concern for the next generation, helen lovejoy.
oh, i forgot, your portfolio was rising. |

I hate trump to no end. The point he is making is very very real. People will revolt before they lose everything they have ever worked for. I have to lay a 26 year old kid off friday who is conpletely.capable of working amd he wont be able to pay rent or buy food. He is about to move in with his girlfriend and her children and he just lost his job and wont be able to get another. How is that fair? See poopty scenario
I personally should be fine but im still worried as well. When you take away peoples lively hood the rules change. This is going to get absolutely insane |

The system will change. What are they going to do? Kick us out of our homes so that nobody can buy them?
It's not a national or a regional thing, it's a global reset.
I've been wondering for a week how this is going to affect global food prices. In Canada we're fortuitous to have a grain surplus. We also likely have enough frozen and canned inventory to last for awhile.
Many of the people who harvest crops worldwide will have among the highest rates of infection and the poorest coverage IMO. Also, do you really want to be eating and handling food that gets handled my multiple people? Grow your own lettuces and tomatoes, pretty much avoid anything that gets "handled" at a market.
Spend some time in your garden instead of socializing. - golfingsince
It’s an extremely complex issue, far too in-depth, to be discussed here. Food, shelter, government spending, tax, unemployment, looting, hospital care, retirement, it’s going to have, potentially, a tremendously negative affect on everyone’s future.
It took a world war to recover from the depression of the 1930’s. |

Biden? Lols... The guy has dementia. He can't remember what he should say half the time. He needs medical help and to be in nursing home. The people using him are just parasites feeding on him. The people who put him up to run are shameless, taking advantage of the guy. |

how could someone on here possibly know what my concerns are? If you have adult children and grandchildren, which I do, you’re absolutely concerned about their future and what the world looks like for them. |

I work for a public company. We get emails about twice a day about covid-19, and there has been a slight improvement in the field.
However, we still share facilities with members from other terminals. We also share locomotives that have travelled across the country without proper sanitation. As demonstrated twice since November, we are the lifeline of the economy .....for good reason. We are the major supply system.
Decisions are being made at all levels in the interest of the shareholder and not the employee. It's like the shareholder is TOO STUPID to realize that without the employees in place to operate their business it's going to crash even harder. Secure all food and medical supply chains, lock everything else down. |

So many people getting laid off, both parents, with kids to feed, mortgages to pay, vehicles to pay for, bills to pay, it’s just awful. It could extend people’s work lives from 60 to 70.
If you have a business but had to shutdown, not only do you have zero income but you most likely have rent to pay on your business location. If a lot of small businesses fail it’s going to be awful.
My buddy got laid off, as did his wife who had a great job at the Empress hotel downtown, they have three teenagers, a mortgage, they’re really concerned. He said “it’s a nightmare”. Luckily they have some savings but when you tap into it you’ve gotta work longer. No college for the kids. |

This thing is going to destroy our economies, USA & Canada, millions of young people between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age will still be digging us out of this in a decade. I feel bad for them. - Pacificgem
This pandemic will absolutely ruin the worlds economies, but they can be salvaged over time. My issue is with the unnecessary loss of life with this virus, I get the impression that most people are just associating the virus with old people, which may be the most susceptible but individuals of all ages are also becoming infected.
Unless all efforts are taken to stay the spread of the virus, the economies of the world will never recover fully, my opinion.
Something I find ironic about this whole situation, (and not being identified anywhere) is that the generation that is screaming that the older generation has "ruined their future" is the same generation that is flaunting preventative measures and is a contributing factor to spreading the virus.
I feel sorry for the responsible youth and want to jail the dumbasses, you want your economy back, be responsible. |

There isn't any hockey going on, nor will there be anytime soon.
If we can't properly discuss what is undoubtedly the largest crisis of our times as it unfolds then what is a suitable discussion?
I'm not interested in burying my head in the sand. I'm far more interested in solutions. |

I agree that the self isolation and distancing is crucial, my original comment was, at what point does the bigger picture take precedence. Three months, four months, six months? |
