Our country is definitely not doing enough, they are juggling trying to keep things normal and being semi forceful, please stay home, please. - Makita
I hate to say this, but they need to declare martial law and have the army in the streets enforcing no contact/social distancing orders. Having an assault carbine held by a soldier wearing full NBC gear trained on you will make you and everyone else stay home permanently. Especially if someone gets shot because they're too much of an idiot. |

I think it’s funny that some people want to preserve a system that only benefits the 2%. Our world system is broken and massive change is needed. This might be the perfect time to rethink the whole damn thing.

This pandemic will absolutely ruin the worlds economies, but they can be salvaged over time. My issue is with the unnecessary loss of life with this virus, I get the impression that most people are just associating the virus with old people, which may be the most susceptible but individuals of all ages are also becoming infected.
Unless all efforts are taken to stay the spread of the virus, the economies of the world will never recover fully, my opinion.
Something I find ironic about this whole situation, (and not being identified anywhere) is that the generation that is screaming that the older generation has "ruined their future" is the same generation that is flaunting preventative measures and is a contributing factor to spreading the virus.
I feel sorry for the responsible youth and want to jail the dumbasses, you want your economy back, be responsible. - Makita
Anyone rooting for the death of the elderly is a loser. However, people should realize that POTUS has access to more information than any of us. To think he'd say USA will be back in business after Easter without any information about the pros/ cons makes no sense. |

Here’s an interesting factoid for the Fraser Health region:
Fraser Health Authority now has 194 positive COVID-19 cases. We still have significant acute care capacity with 1,691 available beds, and approximately 40 – 46 per cent of critical care, ICU and vented capacity being utilized. Our Emergency Department visits continue to decrease, with 891 less visits today compared to pre-COVID-19 numbers. |

Not even close to enough soliders to do that. The people will rebel against them so fast and now everyone is (frank)ed. Brutal idea. I get the thought process but it cant be executed |

Thanks RC, I haven't been online anything since last Tuesday, with no hockey this is a good topic to discuss. - Makita
everyone who wasn't terribly concerned about the virus when they should have been seems to be especially concerned about the virus' affect on the economy now.
imagine if they had taken it seriously from the beginning instead of calling it a media hoax/hysteria, would we be in a better position to prop up the fragile economy?
imagine if they took south korea's approach and tested like hell and isolated those infected rather than saying on january 22, “We have it totally under control.”
but then again, who takes doctors and scientists seriously? what do those guys know anyway? |

I don’t think it’s about preserving any one system, it’s about world order, keeping a roof over heads, not being out on the streets and able to feed your family. That reality could be difficult for millions of people if this drags out. |

Proven, tested, approved vaccines won’t be available for a year, there’s zero chance of the continuation of current practices for that long, zero.
I don’t think there’s an approves SARS vaccine yet, when was that outbreak? - Pacificgem
There has not been a vaccine or cure for any of the 7 coronavirus to date. The idea is to not overwhelm the medical system all at once. Treatment takes a long time with limited resources to treat people.
There likely will be a 2nd wave, maybe more. If they cannot find a vaccine then the idea becomes creating a herd immunity without one. Hopefully having had it provides further immunity.
That's why it's so dangerous to have a target date on when this is over.

Thats great - Jkuzzi
Not really. It speaks to the fact that our population uses emergency health services as a source for their general health concerns because GPs are hard to find or are already overwhelmed.
Now, even the minor health issues are not getting treated. |

People abuse our medical systems for nothing, I’ve got a buddy, 71 years old, who goes to the doctor at least four times a month. His heel hurts so he wants medical attention.... |

Is it? Or is it to preserve a certain way of life? A luxurious life. A glutinous life. One built on consumption, not on need. |

I just booked off, when I was transferred to alive agent I said family reasons. I was given 24 hours to book back on.
I'm on vacation next week, if i'm going to go broke it's not from missing 4 days of work.
I'll book back on when I feel the standards are appropriate. |
