Look on the bright side- the Panthers took Olesz - mind you the Hawks ended up with him for about 4 games or whatever --- so I mean at least Barker contributed something for like a season - but that was it --- as opposed to.... well, never. - SC116
How dare you besmirch Rusty! Actually, I don't care, but it's one of Darth's guys, so expect a tongue lashing from him. |

Report: NHL team proposes lottery tournament to award first overall pick
Reaction: IMHO there is no way this co19 virus is going to become so less of a threat even after an innoculation........that anything approaching selloits of all games whether regular season, playoffs, and through next season.
There will be enough reports of new cases. There will be too lackadaisical safety approach by too much of the public until this virus becomes a very big societal problem. Currently we have just scratched the surface of the level of infected people.
Would you feel safe sitting next to strangers. Even a very slight cold or one cough from a non infected fan, is enough to create am exodus from a whole seating section.
No sports leagues next season will play games If there was a tournament, I surmise it would cost too much operating revenue and result in a net loss.
Buckle up for a prolonged journey of no hockey games

Let’s just say I have been a fan way too long. If you want to do a profile of players who had a cup of coffee with the Hawks, I have a name for you. Bobby Orr. Played 20 some games for Hawks in 1975. Yep, you can look it up. But it would be fun to revisit. |

If that's the case then I submit we add that Russian guy Foley did that epic rant about to the list of past Hawks Luminaries to have a thread dedicated to them. I don't recall the guys name - was it Karpotsov?

If I remember correctly either Washington or Pittsburg moved up in the draft pushing the Hawks to third pick .
Or they would have had Malkin or Ovie - HamiltonHawk
This pick was just a case of very bad luck /HAWKS were 2nd pick and Pit 1st till Washington won the lottery and jump to number one . HAWKS would have chosen Malkin as OV was consensus number one and Malkin two . I think Barker was consider number 3 by most observers,
I love to here about Terry Roscoe Ruskowski . 53 pim in 11 playoff games in 82 |

Peter Regin - Chunk
Elbows is a long time Peter Regin guy so I know he'd be on board.
I'd go for any of the following...
Yakubov and Vorobiev
the unstoppable ABC line

What was the consensus on him by the experts before the draft? - StLBravesFan
All the "experts" were high on him. And we had to wait through the lockout to actually see him play. And he was brutal. I kept thinking maybe it was just being rusty after lockout, but nope. A bust at #3 is rough for a team. When Seabrook came along and couldn't stride well I thought oh oh, here we go again. Thankfully I was wrong and Seabrook was a player and a clutch player as well. We know the speed of the game is much faster than it was a decade ago. I'm hoping that the surgeries Seabrook had make him capable of playing again. There is much more to being a player than just pure speed and he has the mind for the game. For my money he should be the captain. And Barker can go beat the bushes like he has for years. |

The infamous Adam Bennett as well
How about the average to below average player. Not a bust but never a top player. Nominating Tim Higgins and Ethan Moreau. Higgins played junior with linemattes Bobby Smith and Steve Payne. He never had it so good again |

Good morning. Hope everyone is doing well.
Changing gears here, but if there is a compliance buyout this off season (whenever that is) and Seabrook is still on LTIR during the buyout window, is he eligible to be bought out? Shaw falls into the same category. Guess it all comes down to the buyout details established by the league. Don't remember what the restrictions were during the other buyout back in 2013.

I thought Rusty was a compliance buyout and Montador the other when the then new CBA allowed teams to exercise up to two of them. Weren't one or both of those guys on LTIR? |

[quote=spanky]Wow! What a pessimistic outlook. You been watching the TV to many hours a day about the Corona virus. The media gets the folks like you in a panick mode. Yes we do have older people dying because of this virus( 90% of the fatalities had other medical issue prior to the outbreak. This country has had to fight off 4 very dangerous viruses in the las 12 years. Some of these viruses had over 100,00 (0ne over 300,00) fatalities.... luckily we are not even close to those numbers of past viruses. My question would be why so much hype From the media over this corona virus? The media showed very little hype in the past and didn’t have the majority of the people in such a panic mode that they clear the shelves in the grocery store. If every person would be prudent and only shop when absolutely necessary instead of having a love fest at the grocery store... this virus would be totally under control in no time like what happened in China.
