Nobody is calling China a paragon of virtue. They didn't kill the doctor, the virus did.

That doesn't change the fact that trying to control the disease in China was the world's first best chance at containing it and that's why many countries (Canada included) sent medical supplies.

It also doesn't change the US president's ineptitude regarding the entire situation from the dismantling of The Global Health Security and Biodefense unit to still now prioritizing the economy over the health of the people.

In the beginning phases of testing in bc, we had one facility testing that could do 45-75 tests in a 24 hour time frame. We are now sitting at 5 hospitals (4 mainland) 1 on vancouver island (victoria general) and contracted out life labs in Surrey. Our new numbers of tests per day is 4000-5000. Our capacity for testing is great. What I learned though, is that canada is projected to have 4 weeks of incline in confirmed cases (probably due to testing capacity being increased) before we are set to have a massive "surge" in confirmed cases.

As far as bc doing well. We are doing average. Healthcare workers are managing, but it's about to get scary as supply starts to really dwindle. We have 59 healthcare workers with contracted covid-19 in bc. We are completely scarce on ppe and arent able to source much. Inventory is data managed and dispersed based off of historic use. There are nurses in vancouver using scarfs for masks. They are given 1 mask per shift. It's very much scary for us in BC in healthcare.

I dont mean to be the bearer of bad news in what most people think is a small victory by todays health ministers numbers, but we are just about to get hit hard and this thing is far from over. I'm hoping everyone is staying safe and will continue to do their due diligence and isolate
