They interviewed his coach and quoted some scouts, I imagine all of them have seen him play - LeftCoaster
I will tell you the process . Coach says he has unbelievable skills for a kid his age.
Interviewer who has not seen him play . We have the next Connor Mcgavid in three years
Dummy on Hockey Buzz that never seen him play . " Connor Bedard, the next 1st overall pick in the McDavid class was just on Global news."
And the hype has begun |

The article I read, had him compared to Sidney Crosby, a better overall player than McDavid.
Hopefully the Canucks tank his draft season. - Reubenkincade
Be nice to see a BC kid do really well, Joe Sakic was the last big BC superstar forward. |

I’m not hyping him, I’ve never heard of him, I simply stated he was on the news and quoted what they opened the segment with wait - LeftCoaster

Mathew Barzal is good but he’s no superstar. |

For the Islanders, he's the next John Tavares... oops, too soon? |

He is also 5'8 so the Connor McDavid comparison might be a stretch , maybe better to use a Jack Hughes comparison - VANTEL
I mean he’s 14, so ya... got a few years to grow. |

Quinn Hughes and Pod fell in our laps . I am very thankful
Brock was a good pick
OJ was a terrible pick in a strong draft
Jake was an average pick in an above average draft.
Petey was a very good pick in a good draft.
I thought last years draft was over rated and wanted a Dman . The ones I wanted were all gone by the time we picked but I do think we got the best forward .
I think the draft gets overblown by a bunch of people claiming how strong it is . Most of those people have never seen most of the players in the first round play one game.
I like the draft but I think it is over hyped by people that don't know too much. - VANTEL
Ya i prefer to listen to scouts, who’s job it is to recognize talent and say things like “this is a very deep draft” |

no one has crowned him anything. Exceptional status is what it is. It’s only been wrong once so far. Look the list up. Wright is on track to go top5. Sean Day is the only time tge player hasnt panned out. |

Connor Bedard, the next 1st overall pick in the McDavid class was just on Global news."
This was the first comment posted about him .
When someone says in the McDavid class is sure makes me think the next one.
It was from an interviewer that never seen him play and posted by a person on here that never seen him play and now being discussed by two people that have never seen him play
This is exactly why I think the draft hype is pure bullsh1t. All four of us pretending we know something about this kid and we all know d1ck all bout him. |

For all we know, the only similarities between this Bedard kid and McDavid is they share the same 1st name and they play hockey. |

You under-hypers make me sick. Let me tell you something idiot, and mark my words, they'll be naming rinks and erecting statues for the kid by the time he's done. Can't wait to see him play sometime. |

Interesting times we're living in.
I think it's going to be awhile before we get a full recovery. I also thinks it's possible, maybe even likely we see a conclusion to this season and a disruption to next season.
Anything i've read says that a vaccine in distribution is likely 18 months aways. Even if we cut that in 3 that brings us to October, which is pretty much the start of flu season in parts of Canada.
If we've done a good job of containing the virus now then we'll be particularly susceptible to a 2nd wave. Wether it's just continuous through the summer or indeed a 2nd larger wave hits as we lessen restrictions on crowd control i don't think is really predictable at this point. I fully expect for social distancing to be an issue until we have a vaccine or we've proven herd immunity.
I think the league and union are going to shrink the cap together as revenues drop, which they have to. We have healthcare but it's not free, there will be taxes to pay for all of this so disposable income will be an issue. |

I don’t know how much you can trust China, although the WHO was allowed in I believe, anyway, they first announced this December 31st and now have control over it through strict measures. So eleven weeks.
Hopefully we can get a handle on this by the end of May, what happens after that, the economic impact, will take awhile to come out of. If it lasts longer, well into summer, it’ll be catastrophic. |

I agree with Golfing on this one. I think it will take a while before they get the okay and after that the fans that can afford to go back may be skeptical to go back

I remember a lot of people were pissed off after the last lockout and said they’d never support the league again, and some didn’t, but most fans came back. I can see that happening again. Although this has global financial ramifications, which didn’t exist back then so you may be right.
I used to always go to games and had season packages, haven’t been to a game in three years. |

Different circumstances . People want to go back but after this work stoppage it is going to take time for peoples finances to recover. |
