My kid was playing NHL19 in franchise mode last week and ran through 12 simulated seasons. He had the Canucks winning the cup 11 years straight. He finally got bored and had them deliberately tank for the 12th season before jumping ship to a different team.
Hopefully Benning is using Playstation to work on his GM skills during this downtime. - YeOldTimer
Seems like your kid should submit his resume when Brackett leaves (which seems imminent.) |

Sad to see him go, I was reading (I forget who) about there being a disconnect between Benning and Brackett. Apparently, not sure if true or not, Benning was leaning towards Glass but Brackett insisted on Pettersson and Linden sided with Brackett.
I could try and find where I read it, a link on Twitter to a story I believe, anyway, Brackett feels like he should have a certain amount of autonomy to run the scouting department how he sees fit and Benning isn't down with it.

I think you are referring to an ed Willis column although there seem to have been several over the last several months of the disconnect between Benning and Brackett.
"Brackett was not made available by the organization for this piece." That was from the Willis column on the Petterson pick. It speaks volumes.

If the stories come from the TSN or Province guys it will more than likely be anti Canucks
If it comes from the SN it will have a lot of slurping. You need to see who it is coming from.

I hear what you're saying and I take everything with a grain of salt. Two points though: 1) this theme has been repeated by different reporters over several months; and 2) not making Brackett available to a reporter for a puff piece on the success of the franchise (picking Petterson) raised my eyebrows.
Your point isn't wrong but I still think Brackett is gone. |

Benning said in a nonchalant voice the other day we made him an offer. You can tell that he didn't want to talk about it or he was not concerned. You can sense there was a wedge .
The way I look at t is Canucks have a pretty good scouting group now and one man leaving shouldn't make the world of difference.
Brackett will probably be offered more money elsewhere and I wish him luck. He did a great job here.

I'd like Brackett to stay and Benning to leave. But as a wise philosopher once said, it is what it is. |

Bullpoop. Delorme couldn’t pull McDavid out of a crowd of ECHL players. |

More Canucks content tonight on Sportsnet Pacific.
They re-ran Game 7 from 2004 vs. Calgary. Pretty amazing game, despite the devastating ending.
Now we're back in 1982 in one of those condensed games - Canucks against Chicago.
I believe this is the White Towel game. There does seem to be a parade of Canucks players to the penalty box... |
