Spector's note: If they were to shop him (RNH) in the off-season (whenever that might be), it’ll be for a second-line winger, not a puck-moving defenseman.

If Edmonton would be looking to actually trade RNH, which I highly doubt, I would think this could be a potential blockbuster deal. I would like a chance to talk about an extension with RNH before any deal is made though.

Reinhart, Mitts and McCabe
for
RNH, Puljujarvi and Russell

Edmonton gets their 2nd line winger, a cheaper/ younger replacement for Russell and a value return for a player that will not play in Edmonton again

Buffalo gets a great 2C (probably the best player in the deal), a steady veteran stay at home dman to pair with Dahlin and a potential steal in JP that could be a 1/2 RW.

Could replace McCabe with Miller or Montour if they prefer a RD over LD.

Russell is not worse than McCabe, you're swapping one guy that has done nothing in the NHL for another guy that has done nothing in the NHL and lastly, I did state that I wouldn't do it without being able to discuss an extension with RNH first.
