I’m all over Hintz straight up for Reinhart if I’m Buffalo . If that actually was on the table and Botteril Thurber it down ? I think there would be much later regret . Hintz is going to be very , very good .
- Allforhim12

Although it is an intriguing proposal I doubt Dallas would want to take on a $7m+ contract unless they can shed someone like Pavelski. Also, I doubt Botts would trade a proven player for player who may or may not prove to be a good top six player.

Thanks! Regarding Domi, I bet the "division tax" Id have to pay would make the trade less worthwhile. Definitely fits the scheme Im going for though.
- Michael Ghofrani

What would you think about something along the lines of Mitts and Miller for Domi and Alzner?
Alzner could get a shot during training camp and if doesn't work just send him to Rochester.

Watching the game tonight,
was very surprising that Drury wasn’t among the first 4 forwards out there in OT
1st duo was Connolly & Kotalik, then Roy & Max,
then finally Drury & Hecht so Drury could take the face off in our own end

Damn that team was loaded
Really too bad they couldn’t keep it together
Darcy really Fd everything up there

Yes, i know Quinn & Golasano were big reasons for the disaster too
But Darcy was the one with the policy of not negotiating during the season
Darcy was the one that waited on Vanek, to the point where he had to match the $7mil deal

I’ll bet all 3 could’ve been signed for deals that were roughly $5mil x 5yrs
And we would’ve won at least 1 Cup
Possibly multiple

I'm not saying Buffalo should take this deal, I'm just saying Leddy is the probably the biggest piece from the Islanders' roster that they'd be willing to give up.
- Ben Shelley

I'd offer Olofsson, Mitts and next year's 1st (not protected) for Barzal. Or change the 1st to this year's 2nd and ask for Brock.
With a stagnant cap likely coming, they will have approximately $10m to sign 5 guys including Barzal. They just signed Pageau for 6/$5m and have Brock for 5 more at $6m.

Why would they do that though?
They’re a playoff team now, and Barzal is their best player
Can’t see them trading him, it would be a step back

Haven’t looked at their roster,
but I’ll bet they can figure out some moves where they get rid of other players rather than trade him

If teams get a compliance buyout,
dumping Ladd (6mil?) will help
They can get rid of Boychuk maybe too

I get what you’re saying in theory
But teams seem to always find a way to finesse the Cap & keep their main guys
Especially someone so young & good as Barzal

I think Barkov isn't worth putting too much time into trying to figure out what it would cost to acquire him. Yes, everyone knows that Florida is trying to cut their salary by quite a bit, however Barkov has probably the best salary in the league for a 1C when comparing the amount he makes and his talent level. I would add Huberdeau to the same category for value contract.
- adambuffalo

Neither of them are going anywhere
Florida would be nuts to do so

I bet Hoffman & Dadanov wall as UFAs though
Both 30ish goal scoring RWs
Maybe cost 6mil per?
Can’t see it go above $7mil for them with the Cap staying still

Not saying it would at all. Just offering a counter to Olofsson for Leddy. It doesn't make too much sense though to trade a 1st and 2nd for Pageau and sign him for 6/$5m to be a 3C. That's why I added the second option for Brock.
They are one team that definitely could use the compliance buyout and I would think they would use it on Ladd. He's played more for Bridgeport the last two seasons than the Isles.

Agreed. I think that they are going to have a tough time signing FAs as well if they are going to try to penny pinch players and use Barkov and Huberdeau as a measuring stick for comparison. Could see them going cheap on guys like Galchenyuk and Puljujarvi and hope they can resurrect their careers in Florida. Doesn't help that I just watched Moneyball again last night.
I would think that if there was any possible trade with Florida that Q would ask for Joker as the primary return. If they wanted Joker, Olofsson, Mitts and a 1st for Barkov would that be close to fair?

Even with the escalator I don't see how it doesn't decrease with missing the last 3 weeks of the regular season and 2 and a half months of playoffs. Is the TV money even guaranteed if there are no games to air? No one buying merch either. HRR is going to take a massive hit.

Maybe?
But Barkov is like Eichel to them
Even a “fair” deal won’t get it done
What would u trade Eichel for?
Would probably have to be something so ridiculously over the top to get him

Would be awesome though
I always liked Barkov A LOT
Applauded Florida choosing him when many on here were laughing at it

They won’t let the Cap drop.
Too many teams would get screwed over

Some sort of compromise will be made
Possibly spreading the escalator out over multiple seasons is one option I’ve heard discussed

Flat cap or drop slightly, one compliance buyout, players get to go to the Olympics.

Up until this past year, Barkov was better then Eichel. He is a fantastic player whom seemed to have a down year this year by his standards.

If Florida traded him, they should fold the franchise.

Further evidence on why a team wouldn’t want to get bent over by a division rival.

If it is a stagnant Cap or even potentially reduced , I have to believe a compliance buyout would be attached as well. They have some older guys on relatively high contracts.

They already regret giving Anders Lee that contract.

I’d happily take Brock Nelson off their hands though.

Phil Kessel had a very good career in Toronto, but do you think they don’t sit their kicking themselves that they handed them Seguin and Dougie Hamilton on a silver platter

How about when they dealt Rask to the Bruins for Andrew Raycroft.

Toronto could of had their #1C, #1RHD, and their 1G instead they made out with Kessel, Raycroft, and Justin Poggie who didn’t even sniff the NHL.

Buffalo could be in a very good position to work trades to acquire some nice, albeit higher priced talent. Could be perfect to get that older vets as 2 -3 year stop-gap solutions at 2C and perhaps 1RhD.
Not sure I want league-wide financial armageddon by any means, but some good old additional pressure could force teams to make moves they may not have made before to secure some sort of asset back rather than the additional upfront cost of buyouts.

A reporter based in Toronto came out with this tidbit about FL a couple of days before a pivotal matchup with....the Leafs. After the teams' previous two meetings, the first meeting was an 8-4 game where FL was up 7-1 in the second, and the next game this happened, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ka_pWTZW-hI Leafs fans were sweating, and this story made them feel better, lol. "Don't worry, they're the same old Panthers..." Blah blah blah.

He's been playing through injuries this season. FL never admits it, but you can tell he's not 100%.
He started the year hurt and finally started looking more like himself and then injured something (knee?) in game @ Mtl right after the allstar break.
