He's absolutely terrible. Even though the goalies have their best save % when he's on the ice and he starts in the Dzone much more. Also he's on PK1 on the second best PK in the league.
- adambuffalo

Every shift of his is like a PK, because he’s god awful.

He basically gets hemmed in his own zone most of the time and gives up low quality shots.

Sign me up man. We will actually score less goals with him

Bump:
First hockey post in 5 pages. Any other thoughts?

Spector's note: If they were to shop him (RNH) in the off-season (whenever that might be), it’ll be for a second-line winger, not a puck-moving defenseman.

If Edmonton would be looking to actually trade RNH, which I highly doubt, I would think this could be a potential blockbuster deal. I would like a chance to talk about an extension with RNH before any deal is made though.

Reinhart, Mitts and McCabe
for
RNH, Puljujarvi and Russell

Edmonton gets their 2nd line winger, a cheaper/ younger replacement for Russell and a value return for a player that will not play in Edmonton again

Buffalo gets a great 2C (probably the best player in the deal), a steady veteran stay at home dman to pair with Dahlin and a potential steal in JP that could be a 1/2 RW.

Could replace McCabe with Miller or Montour if they prefer a RD over LD.

Interesting trade. Good Post
RNH > Reinhart
Puljajarvi = Mitts
McCabe ?=? Russell

Maybe McCabe needs to be upgraded a bit and I'd rather deal a RhD myself, so Miller probably makes it more fair.
Balance it with Picks if necessary.

RNH probably gets in the $8.5m range after next season, but probably gets you more points than Sam and plays 2C to bring Skinner or Olo along points-wise.

I'd do it.

I remember the good old days when I compared Reinhart’s ceiling to RNH and got crucified for it because Reinhart was the next Malkin. How times have changed

Do you have any idea how many people rely on takeout/meals on wheels?

Remember when you couldn’t cook(mr microwave chicken wings)?

Russell has a couple of alright seasons.

He should be put in jail for robbery because he’s been stealing money for years.

He’s an absolute tire fire on the back end for the better part of a decade.

I wouldn't base the trade on Russell though, RNH could be the 2C for a couple years and becomes a key cog in L2. If Cozens demonstrates 2C capabilities in a year or two, RNH can either be traded or move to the wing, probably LW.
The trade creates a hole at RW though, but hopefully they could also trade Risto or Montour to address that position more easily.
I'd do it

Politics aside, I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 2 weeks without work. It will be nice getting government checks soon, but in the meantime my wife has rolled out her own stimulus package for me several times...much more frequent than usual.

I expect a baby boom during the holidays this year, for sure.

Yeah I would to, everybody is crying for a 2C and RNH fills the bill. And if JP turns into something he fills a need at RW, and like you said when the time comes and Cozens is ready you can flip RNH to the wing or in a trade.

This just simply isn't true. If he's really that bad, why do the goalies have their best sv% when he's on the ice? He doesn't put up a lot of points, yet is rarely a negative +/-. He's on the #1 PK on the second best PK in the league. Pair him with someone that can carry the puck and you have a good pairing. Reminds me slightly of Rhett Warrener.

He’s 6th among Oilers D in 5 on 5 TOI per game.

He’s facing a lot of 3rd and 4th line matchups.

So he’s facing bad shooters to begin with.

That’s why

5th in TO, but that's besides the point. He's played over 20 minutes several times this season and about 20 games he's played over 18 minutes.
And playing on the top PK puts him against a lot better players than 3rd and 4th liners.

Our oldest veteran Dmen going into next season are Miller and McCabe at 27 and 26 respectively. I would prefer a more experienced dman to help stable the group. I included Russell in the original trade proposal for a variety of reasons. He is a stable stay at home guy, Edmonton would like to replace him with someone cheaper/younger and lastly he only has one year left on his deal.

Just curious and off topic, but I would think that deaf people would have closed captioning on their TVs all of the time. Why do all these news reports have to have someone signing?
