Our oldest veteran Dmen going into next season are Miller and McCabe at 27 and 26 respectively. I would prefer a more experienced dman to help stable the group. I included Russell in the original trade proposal for a variety of reasons. He is a stable stay at home guy, Edmonton would like to replace him with someone cheaper/younger and lastly he only has one year left on his deal. - adambuffalo
If and it’s a big if Chicago buys out Keith or Seabrook, that is where I’d go for the vet guy.
They have both seen better days but that is the vet leadership type guy you need IMO. They also need a guy like that up front. Guys that can show and teach the younglings what it takes to win the cup.
One of the many things I took from reading one of Gretzky’s book was what he tells about the cup loss to the NYI.
As we sat in the locker room after the loss, the Islanders locker room was quiet. We were like they just won the cup? Why is it so quiet? When we peaked our head in we realized they aren’t celebrating because this guy has a broken wrist, that guy a fractured ankle, him broken ribs, that one there broken hand....
We then realized what it takes to win a cup.

One year left and can walk away.......
I’d rather have a cost controlled Reinhart for 8 yrs
Side note if you’re going to order, I’d call now as time slots are starting to fill up. |

I would want to know about a extension before hand, before I made the trade. |

Politics aside, I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 2 weeks without work. It will be nice getting government checks soon, but in the meantime my wife has rolled out her own stimulus package for me several times...much more frequent than usual.
I expect a baby boom during the holidays this year, for sure. - LandlordTom

That's why I would go after TJ Brodie as a UFA this offseason. |

Are you good with signing RNH to an 8 year deal worth a total of $76M ($9.5M per) that starts at the age of 28-29?
I'm guessing he's going to be looking for that much. |

Adding in the expansion draft for consideration is why I like Russell at 1 year remaining. |

The thing that worries me the most is if another virus comes along in a decade from now, we're going to go through this charade all over again, even if the results are less severe. Hell, it may not even take a virus, just some overblown gang on a crime spree. We're a country of precedent. We were told to stop working, stay at home and do nothing for an inordinate amount of time, and we as a society ate it up, so much so that if anyone gave a dissenting opinion, they got shouted down, particularly by the Social Media Mob. And as a result, our economy has come to a complete stop. Don't think that the people with enough power and influence aren't taking notes. - buffalofan19
This. All of (frank)ing this.
God its infuriating to constantly try and explain to people on this site about how, even if they are doing it for "the common good," those in power will always trend toward restraining your rights. Its why the Bill of Rights was absolutely crucial to the ratification of the Constitution.
And all I'm met with is "blah blah blah WHat wOUlD YOU dO thEn?" Truth be told I'm not 100% certain.
But news flash folks, the Bill of Rights doesn't simply fade into the background because the media and government freaks the (frank) out. |

TO keep the hockey talk going...
I'd bet 100 bucks that the Sabres come out of this virus-shortened season the same gutless, rudderless organization that they were before the season was cut short. |

I’d throw up.
Any 8 year deal not handed to a “Superstar” is stupidity.

A few weeks ago I would have said maybe to that contract estimate.
Now, I forsee the breaks being applied since who knows what next years revenue will look like as well. Nobody knows as too much is up in the air.

Furthermore, knowing his desires before consummating the deal was a stipulation in Adam's post...therefore he has mitigated the risk of the unknown. If it is too much, then walk away. |

I remember the good old days when I compared Reinhart’s ceiling to RNH and got crucified for it because Reinhart was the next Malkin. How times have changed - Fattony1187
