Lockdowns are not the first answer.
Lockdowns are the answer when the problem got so big because there weren't tests to tell us where the virus was, and we let it circulate in places we were unaware it was festering.
He listening to Fauci and Brix about testing in the middle of March, and guess what, their starting to circulate and be supplied now. Imagine if he would have listened to them in the beginning of February, or even at the end of December when WHO said it would be a problem. Maybe we would be in South Korea's curve instead of Italy's. - Der Kaiser
After re-reading your post, I think you meant to write January instead of December. But since I already went and found this, I might as well post it. The article is a pretty good timeline of events. It shows there's plenty of blame to go around the world, it spreads out like a virus.
"..on January 23rd, the World Health Organization’s director-general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus calmed our nerves, saying “At this time, there is no evidence of human-to-human transmission outside China”. https://finance.yahoo.com...l-security-163655629.html
"The clowns at the World Health Organization urged countries not to restrict travel or trade in response to COVID-19 on January 30th as well."

Federalism is a beautiful thing - feetontheair22
Except in a worldwide problem. Which is why the UNITED States government was expressly contemplated to address issues that are too big and grand in scale for any one state to resolve on its own.
probably defective like the china test kits sent to europe - homiedclown
False. My neighbor is a high up at 3M. 3M sells their stuff to distributors. The distributors bought them all and sold them. 3M doesn’t stock stores with products as the air in the manufacturing business. 2 companies bought them all up and probably want to jack the prices. Just saying.
WHO had accurate tests. We opted to use ours, which failed - Michael Pachla
WHO never offered the tests. The United States always does their own tests, we have the CDC. Besides the WHO gave 1.5 million tests spread over 120 countries.
So we would of got 12 thousand tests from them 😂😂. Ya that would of solved the problem. This criticism of Trump has already been debunked by Fauci and other medical staff
If that is the case, then the underlying systemic forces should be reexamined. And no, I'm not a communist. This is what civilization broadly and government is for - jcragcrumple

So they sold to a middle man who then sold to the highest bidder?
Tony Cmon. You’re the one who talks about critical thinking skills. How effective was the Chinese travel ban as a strategy?
Stopping travel to China was fine for what it was. But it was all he did for weeks and weeks. It was too late when he did it because the virus was already here, and totally inadequate because the virus was already in many other countries that he permitted travel to continue.
To congratulate him for the Chinese travel ban is like congratulating him for the big beatiful wall. Both of them are simple mottos as easy marketing pitches. But neither of them do - or will - work. - Der Kaiser

Where did you get 12000 from? And anyway, some testing is better than ignoring it and waiting for a spring miracle.

How do you not comprehend we weren’t ignoring it. The CDC bungled the tests or we would of had our own much sooner . The WHO distributed a TOTAL of 1.5 million tests to 120 different countries. The US would of never got them all and even if we did that’s only .3% of our population.

Fauci on Trump"
"I know, but what do you want me to do? I mean, seriously Jon, let’s get real, what do you want me to do?"
We can put the blame on whoever we want, it doesn't matter know, the problem is nobody can come together to help try and solve the problem and people are dying cause of it.

My understanding is that the federal government was designed to react to threats from outside the union. Hence, the closing of the borders. However, the 10th Amendment reserves the police powers to the STATES. Chief among them, is the health, welfare, and safety of the public.
Although this may be a national issue, the quickest and most effective means of responding to it still remain with those closest to the problem, i.e., the state and local government.

Square that with the US currency and the interstate commerce clause.

We have tested more then any other country now - Fattony1187
The CDC is us. If they screwed up, the US gov't screwed up. The president was briefed on the trouble in China and with China in January. He let it ride save for the easy decision of a travel ban.
Save for the travel bans him and his administration, the people he put in charge, failed miserably. You can defend it all you want, but his incompetence in the midst of a crisis, the only crisis of his term, exposed him for the naked emperor he is.
