I generally agree with Ghofranni's general direction of playing a more high-event offensive style of hockey.

The dilemma is at 2C and 2RW for me. Do you invest in a young, true 2C now with Cozens probably 2 years away? Do you acquire an aging vet as a stop gap? Do you trade for a talented 3C and push him up to 2C for a couple years?

Honestly, I'm sick of elevating players into roles that are a level higher than they are capable of. Old vets will probably be relatively expensive and young players will cost a ton in trade value. That said, I'd prefer to go after Strome as we have talked about. He ain't perfect by any means, but there is flexibility with him down the road if Cozens emerges as a true 2C.

- IonSabres

Either Strome is “fine” imo,
if we aren’t paying a lot to get them
And if they’re here for the long run as an eventual 3C,
then the “4th” line absolutely MUST be very good defensively

I certainly don’t want Eichel spending a bunch of time with Def zone starts
And Strome (neither of them) is the type i want doing that either
And Cozens shouldn’t get any kind of usage like that for a few years at least

almost 6 mil per year until he is 34

easy pass

if ducks buy him out, I have no problem giving him a 2 year deal at 6 per, not 4 year

- homiedclown

I see what your saying. I think his value reflects his long term deal though. Just my opinion, but 34 isn't that old for hockey. Probably see some drop off, but we need a veteran player at 2C.

Tough to be a veteran 2C and be young too.
Becomes unaffordable with that scenario. Like our trade for ror.

4 years at 5.85 million for a 2C. With 30 goal season a 600 + nhl games. Veteran.

Cap goes up every year.
Nice thing is henrique is locked in, and the Sabres would have some certainty at 2c. Plenty of uncertainty with the ufas and Fraser this off season.

Dude let his team in scoring.

Much rather pay him 6.85 than sam 7.5 or whatever others think to play rw with eichel.

- Boss34

Doubt the cap goes up.

Again I like the player not enamored with the contract length.

I might be on board with a Risto for Henrique swap straight up. Might

Let’s see how the draft plays out before we start getting rowdy.

If we get one of Byfield, Rossi, Lundell that completely changes everything.

having 43 points for the ducks, and leading then in scoring is a good thing

but a player 6 years younger and outproducing him is a bad thing for this team

got it

It's hard to find a 2C.

My guess is the nfl plays games in a neutral site, such as vegas . Maybe they test players, coaches. Medical personal and refs ect. Before, during and after the games?

Granted testing becomes easier and actually available

NFL has such a high tv audience.

Otherwise I'm thinking this season isnt happening unfortunately

- Boss34

I saw an article somewhere with a Dr affiliated with the NFL saying their season would be affected without the current situation drastically improving.
I just hope it's not too long before we can go out and resume normal lives. Where people can gather again for some brews at the bar and the People, with no fear of crowded places, can once again go shopping.

if he loses his wheels at 32, like many skaters do

he is an overpriced larsson on the last 2 years of the deal

Who is that Goaltender, are we waiting to see if 6K can fill that need or do we make a move for a Goaltender.
- Buff36

Bernier played pretty decent behind a brutal Detroit team
I think he could be had for Hutton & a pick or “b” prospect
Would likely be cheaper than Raanta

Or we could go after Markstrom & let UPL develop slowly- which isn’t a bad idea since he struggled in his time with Rochester this past season

There’s probably another half dozen stopgap types like Bernier & Raanta, all of whom would be fine i suppose. No one really stands out above the rest for me, so whoever (Halak, Khudobin, etc etc)

I'd honestly rather make a play for Ryan Johansen if getting a center with term

or go after a rental like RNH or Krejci

My best guess is June 1st.

After Memorial Day but gives it enough time to ease into normalcy before 4th of July.

At least that’s what I’ve heard through the grapevines from contacts in homeland.

The better rental option is Bonino as it feels like he would cost less in assets than RNH or Krejci (in division trade) would.

Not the best solution but if Turris gets bought out I’d take a 2yr flyer on him.

I think he could get Skinner going and vice versa. They both can fly.

I wonder how many will actually feel safe enough to come out of their homes and do everything they did before this shelter in place happened.

I'm guessing it's longer than June 1st.

Pavelski or Getzlaf
- homiedclown

I’ve been a big Pavelski fan for a long time,
but he did not look the same in Dallas

Tough to see Getzlaf waiving to come here
And i wouldn’t give up much for him either,

Plus the Ducks will probably get more at the deadline for him if they wait

June 1st with a 50% limit at bars and restaurants then increasing it.

I can also see them mid Mayish allowing places with patios to start serving. Again at a 50% clip. So we have 4 tables out front and 10 out back so we’d go down to 7 tables and seating no more than 35 ppl outdoors with no inside customers.

Johansen should be a buyout candidate
At 8mil per, he’s an awful idea
36pts last year
Even if he gets back to playing at a 55ish point level (i have my doubts),
he routinely gets 25% or more of his points on PP1 (which he likely won’t be on here)

So best case,
you’re looking at a 45point player at 8mil per
No thanks

Kid is talented, but work ethic & consistency plague him
Not the right guy to show the kids the way either

Idk if I’d take him for free at $8mil
Just not a good fit

Only if we severely strike out on much better options
Turris just isn’t that good
“Ok” 3C with some (not much) offensive upside

I wouldn’t trust he’s the guy to “get Skinner going”

Pass 1st guy and again it’s a 1-2 yr stop gap.

Never seemed like the right fit in Nashville also the wheels have fallen off of everyone there offensively outside of Josi.
