I don't love the idea of paying him a lot of money (my personal opinion is that a max-length contract buying UFA years will be $8+). Like everything else with this organization, they just delay decisions and put themselves in the worst possible situations. Maybe we can get another 2nd pairing defenseman for him. Serenity now

I think the only way that his AAV starts with a "7" or below is if they go between 5-7 years. Evolving hockey has his max length deal at $9.2 which is ludicrous imo, but $8+ is realistic to me.

I'd target 5 years, $7 per. That will let him get an Eberle-type payday at the end
