I don’t mind the general idea,
but please not Burke 🤮🤮🤮 - jdfitz77
Someone well respected. He has built some pretty good teams. Burke would add the ying to jbotts yang.

They hire harvard graduate brian burke as team vp of hockey operations. A step above jbotts.
Have botts focus on managing generally with a experienced nhl guy to oversee his mistakes.
Similiar to Doug whaley being transitioned over to mcbeane. - Boss34
"Harvard grad" means nothing. I wouldn't let a Harvard MBA operate on my knee. Brian Burke parlayed probably the best move in drafting the Sedins into a very long career, the rest of it leaving a lot to be desired. He won the Cup his second year in Anaheim, but almost all of the team was already there. He brought in Pronger, but they still win without him. Ottawa wasn't that strong, they barely put up a fight. Niedermayer was as, if not more, important. |

Ying Yang did some of that back in the early 80's at a dead concert, good stuff. |

Don’t know specifics. But a few people “in the know” have said they believed the Sabres offer was better.
It was also reported by those same people that Risto was involved in a lot of discussions too and will continue in the summer. Presumably for a forward
I get thinking Botterill needs to go. I’m half there.
But I just can’t really agree with the narrative that he only will do bargain bin shopping on the forward position and there’s just no way he will get a significant piece.
It’s just not a reality. The Sabres know moves have to be made - sbroads24
I guess you could look at the names involved in any other team's offer and say it was better.
But without someone to take Trocheck's spot in the lineup being part of the return, it's not happening. Many seem to think trading vinny was an all for the future move, but it was a move to improve the team right away. They got Haula to take Trocheck's spot, and another center that was sorely needed for bottom6 in Wallmark. Everyone thought Panthers would want defense and more defense, but their forwards have been just as much of the defensive problem as anyone. Fwiw, Q seems very happy with the additions made. |

Everyone has down years, and it's not like Duchene was tearing it up and Forsberg was having a decent year. He struggled after the trade, maybe not the best system for him. - Buff36
Other players have had good offensive seasons in Nashville
U have no solid reason for his bad season & thus no reasoning as to why he WILL bounce back
So it’s a risk for sure
What kind of deal are u signing him to? |

Mixed results for sure.
Definitely has a championship ring
Maybe take what he does best and mix it with what bits does best.
Maybe burke can find another pair of twins like the sundins. Then have botts over pay them. 🙂 |

The hall of fame does not induct based on 1 ring.
Who gets credit? Who did the hard work?
Pronger was a huge part of the cup team.
Burke made that trade.
Fine that you dont like him. I do.
He traded for brad may 3 times. One of my favorite all time Sabres . Apparently he sees hockey like me |

Botts will do very well without Brian Burke. He did so much for the Leafs he has to be running out of good ideas |

How is it not reality until he actually makes the move the entire NHL, and really anybody with working eyes knows they've needed to make since the ROR disaster.
It could also be argued he is gun shy after the disaster and is hesitant to pull the trigger on the needed big move, for fear of giving up anything significant. |

Didn't even consider that. Still saying $7.5 give or take on an 8-yr deal. - Michael Pachla
I honestly don’t get the hate for Reinhart. I don’t. He produces. If I had a choice over he or Skinner? Skinner isn’t on the team.

6mil per?
Horrible idea imo
Hoffman or Dadonov for 7per sounds MUCH better
They’re both coming off good seasons
Actually, multiple good seasons |

2 guys that will be 32 when the next season starts. Well you know everyone has there opinions. I would take Granlund at 28 or 29 depending on when the Hockey starts again, compared to 32. |

I have defended him for some of the things he's done and what he came into, but there is no more excuses because as you pointed out he has the resources this offseason to really change the direction of this franchise. - Buff36
It's a real tightwire act here in Buffalo. Had gem in ROR, but he wanted to bail. I suppose two of the most important traits we need here are patience and humility. There seems to be a definite turn for the better, and it really does seem like we can seriously turn the corner, if only stars don't bolt at first opportunity. Unlike Briere and Drury years, we have owner completely given to the financial end of winning. |
