He’s half the player Leon is, that’s the problem.

Sabres are always the bridesmaid and never the Bride.

Like I said though, everything happens for a reason and not picking Draisatil led us to getting a hall of fame caliber talent on the backend.

Let’s draft another stud and get this show on the road.

- Pegullaville

If somebody like Monahan is truly available, that's a green light trade including Reinhart on, even if the Sabres get a center in this draft to go along with Cozens.

👍
Seems like we should have "tanked" for Matthew's/ laine
Instead of paying moulson and okposo.

- Boss34

Yes, finally someone gets it.

We need to make the ROR type of deal now, not when we made it.

Can't tank for 5+ years . sometime you need to build before on it before the said tanked draft pics want out .

I’ll never understand why players don’t though.

I guess it’s easy for me to say cause I don’t have anyone handing me a 6-8 year deal with guaranteed money but the salary cap always goes up.

I would never sign anything longer then 3 years and continue to sign at market value every 3 years.

If Sam were to sign for 7M per, 3 years from now he’d be getting Eichel money.

- Pegullaville

Yeah, I don't understand it myself. I'd sign a new deal every 2-4 years as long as I could.

Or Eichel, Dahlin, Cozens, 1st round pick this year.

Which group is better? Time will tell.

Yeah heard that too, someone mentioned the people that own the Lakeside market were interested in it. Which would be cool, cause they make some good sausage and stuffed hot peppers.
- Buff36

Lakeside is the best.

That also switched hands not so long ago. They got all the recipes.

What I hate is fans who think a player owes them anything at all, let alone loyalty.

They can and should do what's best for them, yet agents often make them sign longer deals (as mentioned a page or two ago) because it's better for the agent, obviously, having 10+ clients where he gets a fraction of each player's money to "earn his living".

As a player, betting on yourself and signing short-term deals is a way better choice from a personal finance standpoint. You never risk getting bought-out or severely under-performing your contract and you can change cities until you decide to settle and retire. Experiencing different organizations can lead to better opportunities post-career as well.

2011/12 season we started selling players. Multiple 1sts in 2012 and 2013 due to the start of tanking. The fire sale picked up in 2014.

More then 3 years. Didn’t want to be the Edmonton of putting all young players in immediate roles. No gaurentee we would of got Matthews or Laine

Some suffering needs to be considered in the senario in my opinion.

Good post though

You become a more complete player because of experience.

You’re not getting experience by not playing.

For sure, no guarantees in life.

I was all for moving the tank forward and acquiring ek9 and ror.

I think 36 is correct though. We hurried the rebuild and now we are rebuilding still

Different players benefit from different situations.
One size doesnt fit all

Look at oloffson, slowly groomed , looks like it worked
Drysatlyl stayed and played. Now a superstar

but if you are expected to have first line talent, you learn more IMO from a well run nhl team then you could ever learn in the ahl or jr leagues

either you have the drive or you don't

the development leagues are great for those who need work to be that second or third line player

someone like cozens, all he learned this year is maybe a little leadership skill, and possibly bad habits

Clearly you think he's not going to be a career sabre then?

What do you see in sam that brings you to that opinion?

Guy has never played in an nhl playoff game, but you expect him to win 16 playoff games a year (twice)

Soft and non chalant is not playoff stanley cup hockey

Nice Troll job mike, happy sunday morning

Geez dude, don't get all defensive. I believe he'll have a long, productive career. His pedigree and production will put him on contenders throughout his career and though he won't be expected to carry a team, he's got plenty enough skill and smarts to meaningfully contribute to a contender.
