I would rather sign Galchenyuk for 1/3 of the cost and put him back at his natural position at center.

Start with this year's unprotected first and Mittelstadt. Also have to strike before the 10-team no-trade kicks in. I assume the start of the new league year will be moved, so that's doable.

Brodie and Hamonic, Calgary's 1/2 RD are both UFAs, so Montour could be a cheaper replacement than one of them and Bennett seems to be on his way out.
Ideally I would then send Bennett to Edmonton for Puljujarvi, although Bennett is also from the Toronto suburbs and possibly a change of scenery would do him good.

Everyone is spooked out because of Mittelstadt but Cozens is a very good prospect.

He wasn't having a great year last year, and the year prior may have been the anomaly compared to the rest of his career so far.

I don't think it's an over payment considering Monahan is signed for 3 more years at $6.375m. That is one of the better contracts in the league.

My guess on why they would move him would be a dissatisfaction with their core. Sound familiar?
