I view that as the trend for players. The agents know the TV deal will be renewed shortly. Matthews will be a $15m player when that happens. Reinhart, $10
- jcragcrumple

Yeah. That too
Didn't even consider that. Still saying $7.5 give or take on an 8-yr deal.

He is boring. Some might say meticulous. Others might say squeamish. We'll see.
- Michael Pachla

The numerous squandered assets beg to differ on that point. Regardless, anyone expecting Botterill to get a real 2C is out of their gourd. It's not going to happen. He's going to bargain bin shop and over rely on youngsters

I've yet to put this on him, but this season is do or die. I know he scares the sh!t out of many here but I'm ok with him this off season.
- Michael Pachla

Well, if you give him this offseason, with all the signings he needs to complete be it for retained players, UFA and any trades...Well you are virtually locked into his roster for 3-5 more years.
I don't have a high degree if confidence in him to warrant that investment.

It sucks to start over, but realize with keeping Botts it is not a 1 year deal many refer to. Yes, you can fire him, but you're stuck with his roster for far longer.

I can't stand the liberal BS agenda.
You are Canadian, why do you give a poop about the internal affairs of the US.
Focus on the mess of your own damn country.

- IonSabres

Yeah, especially their “hoax”
Man, glad that was no big deal... right??

Well here I go again, he squandered assets to fill out the roster because the GM before him squandered the franchise. Yes he made some mistakes acquiring those players, but wouldn't have had to if there were players in the system to fill those spots.

I sick of starting over, we have been starting over for 10 years, and when we finally started over are owners rushed the start over so know we have to start over again.

And I'm sure you and everyone else her knows that I feel that this year was a totally predictable failure due to his unwillingness to address a glaring need. But do you think, if given another summer, he's actually going to spend the necessary assets to acquire that center? I say no way.

Joker and Kahun are two very nice adds to a long-term core featuring Jack, Dahlin, Skinner and Skunk. Then there's the youngins with Cozens Mitts Borgen 6-K and Pilut.

They put in a competitive offer for Trocheck. A real 2C.

Those are the only 2 core pieces on the team. Everyone is a complimentary piece.

OK, y'all had to get political, so I decided to research Granlund a bit. He seems like a better Johannson, can play RW or center. He would immediately become the second best RW on the roster behind Sam. He has struggled since being traded to Nashville, but was very solid before that in Minnesota. Probably wouldn't break the bank. If we could get a 2 @ 5 mill, absolutely sign me up.

I would have liked Trocheck here, but I’m not surprised one bit of the trade package that acquired him.

He has not been the same player since the injury.

I really can't tell you that, I would hope so, he has been confusing, for every decent move there has been a head scratcher to follow.

Really? From what Jeremy White and Chad Dedominicis (sp) both who dislike Botterill said the reported offer was better than Carolina’s

I think what Joker did this year as a 20 year old d-man was pretty impressive.

The offer, from what I gathered, did not include Mittelstadt. I don't view that as a competitive offer.

The most common pieces I've heard were Miller and Asplund

JB is gonna continue bargain shopping for forwards

I like him, he has been a good player since 2016, had 69 then 67 and 54 points the last 3 years

That’s some silly reasoning. If he doesn’t include Mittelstadt on anyone he trades for, he’s not trying? Do we know Florida likes Mittelstadt?

He made a legitimate swing for a 2C. The exact opposite of what you’re saying.

He’s aware he needs one. He’s trying to get one.

You’re right he hasn’t gotten one yet, saying he isn’t trying or won’t try is just not reality

I like him a lot, I'm just not willing to say he's a core piece. As it stands, i think the Sabres have 2

Trying means something totally different to you and darren dreger than it does to me.

Maybe he'll super duper try and actually do something about this 2-year old problem this summer. I'm not holding my breath
