How come robin Lehner had such good numbers on the Hawks? You as a Hawks fan should not look at Andersen not cracking top 30 in save % and giving him a free pass.

The goaltending was very bad. Much bigger problem than the D. I get you never hear that about the Leafs, but this fantasy that Andersen is some superstar that carries the Leafs every win is a laughable myth.

Andersen can be replaced with Lehner. Andersen is not getting any big raise and long-term deal from the Leafs. I guarantee it. The teams that give starter's massive deals long term in their 30's never work.

Why was your goalie able to put up such better stats with an even worse D?

Andersen was one of the worst starters in the NHl this year.

How you going to sign Lehner when you have Andersson still under contract .Lehner will not be cheap at all ,and don't think he will wait a year to sign with the all mighty leafs ..

Move Andersen? How about that...

And while Lehner won't be cheap, he won't cost more than Andersen in terms of cap hit. He doesn't play enough games to get more than 5-5.5 per. The Nhl is going with a 2 goalie system now anyways.

no one is going to take Seabs 2/3 $$$ buyout unless we throw in a 1st rounder. Also with Seabs the issue is not as much about money. He is just not a NHL d anymore. So would you rather pay 2/3 the money or pay to watch him from the press box. also you then do not need to keep him for the EXP draft.

one thing that I found interesting was look at all the goalies that would be out there. probably get somebody on a cheap 1-2 year deal.

I would take wennberg as a 3rd line center. Maybe smith and 25% retention.

Where did Colorado rank? Their broadcast is genuinely awful and makes one of the most entertaining teams almost unwatchable.

Colorado was 28th. Penguins broadcast believe it or not 30th.

Good luck with that ,anyone looking at Andersson would be more inclined to sign Lehner .And not to that unreal amount you think he will come in at .. And if they are going to a two goalie system now I guess that means two goalie at maybe 6 and 3 mil .Back to the old cap and your four horseman, something got to go for defenses or goalies ,, Sure sounds like everything is Rosie in the big smoke

I don't watch other teams that often, so this is a legitimate question...is their low save percentage specifically on the goalies, or is due to their defense allowing high danger shots?

Roger is literally the worst person to ask about that.

He goes so far to try and prove that the Leafs are flawless upfront and on D that he trashes the goalie to do it.

Truth is, Freddy hasn't been his usual self the second part of the season but the team also left him out to dry. A lot. And the backup goaltending was the literal worst in the league (until Campbell got here). But the first part of the season Freddy was the only reason the Leafs won games. That's how bad the team was playing.

Andersen is signed for 1 more year. I am saying trade him this summer. And yes he can be traded without a doubt.

And Jack Campbell is signed for 2 more years at 1.4 per...Guess you forgot about him.

Trade Andersen for something, sign Lehner and have Lehner and Campbvell next year for the same amount as Freddy and Campbell.

Oh please, stop with this narrative. It's embarrassing. His numbers are very average every year going back to Anaheim. Stop giving him all credit for every win.

By "First Part" of the season you are discluding October I take it? He was awful. The guy stinks every season for the first month. He has 2-3 brutally long stretches of stinking it up. That's why he's not close to an elite goalie.

Giving Freddy credit for every win is laughable. ":Leaving him out to dry". Stop with these cliches you hear in the media. Again, why can Robin Lehner be left out to dry every game and play elite?

What first part of the season was he good? For 3 weeks? Because man, Freddy cost the team points in October for sure.

Not sure it was brought up previously, but holding onto some of these proposed buyouts solve next years expansion draft exposure problems, have to consider this holistically.

If Lehner was asking for $5.5m, the Hawks would of signed him in a millisecond.

So tell me what he will make?

Lehner's issue is his numbers are elite, but he doesn't play 50+ games. He won't get 6 or 7 per... (Leafs can still afford him at 6 anyways).

Yes trade him this summer the same time Lehner is a FA .Why would a team looking for a Number 1 trade with the Leafs when they can sign Lehner who you even you say is a better goalie ..

Because there's only 1 Lehner and more than 1 team that needs a starter?

Lehner is without a doubt better than Andersen. Andersen is an "OK" starter. Nothing great. 31st in save % amongst starter's with 25+ games.

Hey maybe Toronto can sign Crawford. He's an UFA too. 2 time Stanley Cup winner. Could be he wants to close out his career getting one more with the Leafs.

I got very tired of Lehner quickly. He's good, not great. Slow most times. Shootouts ... I don't like his presence & throwing his teammates under the bus constantly. I think he wants more than what he made this year at a longer term. Too much term for him is a bad idea in my opinion. I don't think Lehner will win a cup as 1a.

Ok so you will be bidding against other teams for Lehner and someone is going to trade a asset to acquire a lesser goalie your words , Sounds like stable thinking .
On another note Lehner when really needed by the HAWKS this year was very underwhelming . So again signing him with the cap situation the Leafs are in will be tough . I wish you luck, but not to much as I live in Southern Ontario and have Leaf propaganda shoved down my throat on a almost unbelievable rate ..
