I read this morning that 3M has twenty international distributors, outsourced for cheap labor, so they don’t actually produce the majority of the masks in the States. I guess they could force them to ship the masks they have back to the USA?

hospitals require certification for medical masks, and their distributors don't have that. They are a main distributor of N95's in healthcare.

Good. Business is closed. Working on repair/maintenance/cleanliness things. Still unsure if the wage subsidies will keep me in work or if I will get laid off next week. Everyone is healthy so far, but bored out of their minds.

I think the PMs response this morning was very good, and well thought out. I believe Trumps order wasn’t an order, but a request, and that 3M isn’t interested in abiding by that request.

Still not going to be enough to go around though, those 2 billion will go FAST spread out in the US, Canada and Latin America, it's like sticking your finger into the dam to stop a leak only for 4 more cracks to appear elsewhere.

The White House tried to force 3M to export masks to the US from its hub in Singapore as tensions with the Minnesota-based manufacturer spilled into the open in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
3M this week resisted demands by White House officials to send about 10m N95 respirator masks being produced in Singapore for markets in Asia to the US, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter.
The company was reluctant to accept the White House request on legal and humanitarian grounds, as medical workers across the region would be deprived of protection, the person said.
3M executives did commit to exporting a similar number of masks to the US from a plant in China but that did not stop the White House from publicly attacking the company. Donald Trump also invoked Korean war-era powers under the Defense Production Act for the second time since the start of the outbreak. The latest effort would compel the company to sell its products to the US government if requested.
“We hit 3M hard today after seeing what they were doing with their Masks. “P Act” all the way,” the US president wrote in a tweet on Thursday night. “Big surprise to many in government as to what they were doing — will have a big price to pay!”

They are just one producer though. Apparently they have already more than doubled production output, and are continuing to ramp up. Other suppliers (globally) are as well. It will take time, which some regions may not have, but supply will level out sooner than later. If Trump wanted to actually do something effective, he should levy serious fines to business profiteering from distribution of medical supplies. Those masks which generally cost the health sector $0.85 are now wholesaling for as much as $7. It isn’t the manufacturer, it’s the distributors.

Yesterday I read something about the Cam Neely trade where Benning chimed in as he was around the team then, came the year after the trade. Something to the affect that coach Watt only saw Neely as a crash and bang fighting third liner who was stuck behind Tanti and Smyl in the lineup.
Pretty much said a lesson in patience because as soon as Neely went to Boston he was given top six minutes and flourished. So back to my point, he said that’s why they’ve been so patient with Jake, Benning loves what he brings, he’s a heavy body and he’s a fantastic skater which is hard to find in today’s game.
I suspect they won’t trade him but will make other moves to deal with his cap mismanagement.

I will start of by saying Jake is not Cam Neely or Todd Bertuzzi . I will end it there on Jake.
Canucks need to do a few things this year and it is guess work . I do wish all Hockey would announce this year is cancelled and get going on next year. Unfortunately they do not have answers either .
