Barrie is not my wish
How many times has Benning been linked to Barrie? He is a free agent and wants to play for the Canucks. I am just reading the tea leaves. - VANTEL
It made a lot of sense before hughes. Again, a barrie or a risto would be best in myers spot playing 20 minutes and logging a lot of offesive starts/pp. i think hughes changes how he approaches ufa season. |

You put him into the first line, is he going to play 16 minutes per night with Edler?! Bottom pair guy. |

I doubt they resign Tanev if they resign Markstrom.

It could be Edelr Barrie , Hughes Myers. I just think that will be our seven D unless there is a trade.
Tryamkin already said last year he would be a great stay at home guy for Hughes. - VANTEL
Like Lefty said, Hughes needs to be paired with a defensive d-man. That rugged, stay at home, cross-check the heck out of the opposition in front of the net kinda guy. |

It’s around 20 per night for edler, against the first line. Putting Rafferty against top lines 5v5?! Looking for a top5 pick in 2021? |

Barrie had a bad year and had 39 pts in 70 games. He is consistently a 40 to 50 pt guy. I have no problem with Canucks having two 50 pt Dmen . Absolutely none.
Hughes looked good with Schenn so I don't believe it has to be Tanev as a partner. |

I totally think both re-sign(happy lefty?). Toffoli im much less sure about. There will be moves made to keep them imo and they both love it here. |

So they need a guy like Myers... or just keep pairing him with Myers? |

If he’s going to play against top opposition it does. See marwood/lefty comments above. |

Tanev Rugged Cross checking guy? - VANTEL
He’s rugged and battles like a sob, i love Tanevs game. Absolute warrior. Be a big mistake to switch it up on hughes. Barrie is a defensive liability, exact opposite type of player. Point production for sure, bit big step back defensively. |

Edler 14-16 5v5 rest on the PK
-shorter shifts
Hughes on PP1 22mins/game
Rafferty on PP2 maybe if not Myers
-short 5v5 shifts...14-16mins
Pretty much predicting balanced pairings mins & in game pairing changes. |

He is a smart positional player and one of the best shot blockers in the league , but he is not rugged or a cross checker. |

Disagree. He doesn’t hit, doesn’t mean he’s not rugged. Wins so many puck battles, tooth and nail does everything to win the puck/keep the puck. Absolute warrior, as i said. Wish we had a couple more like him. |

I do think Canucks will keep one of Rafferty or Briesbois on the team next year but I have a feeling it will be GB . He requires waivers and the extra year of learning won't hurt Rafferty unless he is a standout at training camp |
