I'm not sure if anyone has posted this but I expect we'll see something similar soon in the NHL. IMO, it should be tiered. - golfingsince
English Premier League is proposing a 30% pay cut for players. |

Makes sense.
When this started I said to my wife the entitled and the self centered are going to have a tough time.
So, on the island in both Parksville and Cowichan Valley, they have couples returning from overseas refusing to quarantine. Their neighbours are reporting them to the police. The police have talked to them and they said they won't comply. That Quarantine Act really has some teeth. |

Season ticket holders paid in advance. Are they getting a refund, or just a credit?
TV contracts are signed, perhaps the payments are staggered? But I assume a lot of that revenue is already earned.
Jersey and other items have already been sold. Most of the revenue is already in the owners pockets, but look, if the rest of us are being laid off and receiving 55% (or whatever) of our wage, no reason athletes shouldn’t also be laid off. |

I think it's ridiculous. Here in NB you face an $11K fine if you don't comply. I think they should step it up and seize vehicles or something for non-payment. |

Well it's going to come down to a situation where teams face bankruptcy if nothing is done, so I think the union will realize that. |

Heard the mayor of Cowichan on CBC yesterday saying the same thing. Basically, bylaw officers have no tools to deal with provincial measures. But, the federal measures came into place recently, and it’s the RCMP who are responsible for attending those. It’s all about what date you returned. Stupid - they should have enacted the emergency such and such retroactive to whatever date so that they could enforce it properly. |

These peoples names should be made public. Nothing a little community shaming can't resolve. Or just arrest them and throw them in jail. |

I imagine everything for this season as far as ticket holders will be a credit, at least for now. I doubt all of the TV revenue is paid as it's highly dependant on ad revenue which is non-existent for hockey right now.
How long can the bottom 5 teams hang on? How about the next 5? |

Didn’t the carbon tax go from 20% to 30% April 1st, along with a 2.5% bump in MP’s salaries? Maybe they could donate that to the professional sports teams |

I would imagine that even the bottom 5 team owners are well off enough that they can hang on. There is still the revenue sharing through the league office, and there is only what, 20% of the season left? It is harder on teams who were counting on playoff revenues I would think. |

That guy is the topic of all media today on Twitter. Everyone is calling him an idiot.
The stock piling issue
The firing of the naval captain
His popularity ratings
Germany is pissed at him and he is not making friends in Canada
He fired another high employee last night
He is worst than the virus |

How does that make them not an employee? No, there is certainly not a C19 clause, but there are all kinds of other clauses, like escrow for example.
Players are employees of the NHL, their money is not guaranteed, it’s based on a share of total revenue. |
