Ya, I'm willing to give him a year, doesn't impact my life.
but, if they were smart they would sell now, IMO of course.
we have seen this movie before, it was called Alex Nylander - IonSabres
I mean we did turn Nylander into Joker so we got pretty good value there. |

I'm fine. I don't expect anything from him, so whatever to me.
his value sucks anyway, so not like they are getting the much needed 2C for him.
all these things were said about Nylander...everyone one of them.
They were wrong. |

If he works out and Actually does what hes told hes going to be a really good player.. its up to him - gerbe75pts
He has elite hands, with ECHL compete and conditioning.
It’s quite the conundrum.
Mittelstadt’s fall from grace from top 3 prospect in the NHL by many talent prospect evaluators to where he’s at now is pretty astonishing.
I think he’s a top 6 forward on the wing if he figures his poop out, however if he is the piece needed to acquire a 2C I make that move because with Olofsson, Kahun, and Skinner I think we are ok at LW. |

Johnanson, Trochek and Karlsson all showed that they were ready for NHL by game 110.
Casey got the points and still looks like a career AHLer. |

The Corey Pronman (sp?) article on the Athletic yesterday regarding Souting and what they look for was very interesting.
Top 5 Attributes in evaluating a prospect were
Hockey Sense by a landslide as 16 of 25 scouts rated it tops, while only 1 Scout rated Character as top attribute, others included Skating, Skill, Accountability.
When asked about Character, 60% rated it a 4 of 5, while about 30% rated it a 5 of 5 in importance...so 90% rated it very highly.
When asked about it one responded "The guys who don’t have it, they can cause headaches for your coaches at all levels, your development staff, their teammates. You have to ask yourself if it’s worth it,” said one scout.
As you and others have said, he has terrific talent. I'm not sure he has the internal drive to get him to where he needs to be in the NHL.
He is a bit of a Cody Hodgson to me.

I was dead wrong about Nylander. It's true, I'll own it.
Nylander, even in the AHL, had some glaring holes in his game. His lack of tenacity was going to be an issue at any professional level.
To me, Mitts struggles more because he's a weakling of a center at the pro level. We rushed him. He wasn't ready (obviously). But I think that is a lot easier to correct than work habits like Alex had. I have more hope there than I did towards the end with Alex. |

True story.
Scouting reports had Nylander as invisible much of the time but would pull off something special before becoming invisible again. |

50 points in his first 183 games. I do not follow how you had Karlsson as an NHLer - 24 yo at that point.
33 points in his first 107 games. I do not follow how you had RyJo as an NHLer - 21 yo at that point.
I think we should see what Mitts has to offer next season. |

It’s pretty simple.
After 100 NHL games, Karlsson was playing full time in the NHL. Same for Johansen.
After 100 NHL games, Mittlestat is a full time AHLer and ISNT looking like he’s miscast there. |

Imo, I don't think there is a snowballs chance in hell that Mitts becomes a top 6 player. Just like toe drag Tage. - hehateme
Do u think that all top6 players have established themselves by the time they hit 21 years old?

After 102 games through Karlsson's first three NHL seasons, he had produced a grand total of 25 points.
Ryan Johansson produced a grand total of 33 points through his first two seasons and 107 total games.
Great that both were playing full time in the NHL. They were playing full time and producing very little. How impactful were they? Not is the answer. |
