that said, I just wanted to keep it conservative in the discussion about '79 and '03 HOF'ers and if most on the above list get in, the 2003 draft class will no doubt be the best draft class ever - Michael Pachla
Not sure why '79 gets so much credit? Looking at the list of players drafted, it doesn't look too impressive. Just taking a quick look I think I like '84 and '88 better. Will be fun to see where '15 ends up being ranked. |

Nhl.com's adam kimelman had 88 ranked 2nd behind 79 and ahead of 03. I don't agree |

Yeah, not a fan of giving the award for best defenseman to guys that aren't good at defense (Burns, Karlsson twice) and have said for years that there should be a separate award for offensive dman like they have for defensive forwards. - adambuffalo
Idk if theres ever been a 2-time Norris winner not make the HOF, but Karlsson should not get in imo. Burns obviously should not |

Only if you include the Federal Stimulus in the unemployment scenario and not the employed scenario. You get the Federal Stimulus regardless of whether you lost your job or not. If she were not laid off, she would still be making more in the employed scenario. - buffalofan19
We did not include the stimulus.
We compared her take home while she is working compared to her take home from unemployment. |

You have to include the stimulus check in both scenarios. Everybody gets one, whether they are laid off or not.
Unemployment is paid weekly.
3 months is roughly 13 weeks (4 full weeks plus an overflow of 2 to 3 days depending on the month).
65,000 annual salary / 52 weeks = 1,250 a week x 13 = 16,250
$504/week x 13 = 6,552
$600/week x 13 = 7,800
Total: 14,352
If you want to include the Federal stimulus check in only the unemployment scenario, then yes, they would be getting more, but everybody is getting the Federal Stimulus check regardless of whether they were laid off or not. To do so in one situation and not the other isn't comparing apples to apples. The $65,000 employed family is still getting more take home pay than the $65,000 family on unemployment. Both will get their incomes boosted by the same $3,400 stimulus. - buffalofan19
Well of course. That’s not the point. The pont is even with the furlough - if the relief cash comes promptly, the loss should be pretty well offset.

Gerbe's original premise was that you were better off on unemployment. That statement is not true. You get less take-home pay in that scenario, no matter how you slice it. You're still short about $1,900 if unemployed, which isn't a good thing. |

The only way that would be the case is if there were other reductions involved, such as retirement, health insurance, etc., that would not be reduced from your unemployment check. You would either forego those benefits, or pay them out of pocket.
EDIT: there are also certain payroll taxes that aren't withheld, but I don't think it's enough at that salary range to make up the difference.
Also, the withholding is generally only a 10% flat rate, which at a 60k salary isn't your tax bracket. You will most likely end up being short at the end of the year, or your refund will be less than it normally is. |

home depot worker gets $12 an hour
480 a week
after unemployment and the extra 600 a week, he/she comes out ahead not going to work
for families, where the health insurance is covered by the person still working, the other is much better off for the short term, with unemployment

Add the fact that Karlsson has two and Burns has one, but Chara only has one and I think it shows that there's a problem with the way they judge "the best defenseman ". |

I'm single with no kids and took a voluntary layoff so someone that's married with kids won't lose their insurance. COBRA for me is around is around $500 where their's would be around $1300. |

he also suggested that people should just not go to work and collect unemployment.. which depending upon how the company works, if you choose not to show up because of covid on a voluntary basis your company could deny you unemployment since you are essentially have quit |

I think that's the key here. If you took the test, you're in the system.
Either she took the test, and they tried to get a hold of her and couldn't, and then went searching for her, or she missed the phone call, called back saying "sorry, I took a walk" and medical personnel blew her in. |

Wonder if it was this woman:
https://www.nbcmiami.com/...ing-test-results/2215060/ - buffalofan19
"Barton allegedly approached officers before her arrest and said she believed her test would come back positive."
So did she walk up to cops and tell them she has Corona for no goddamn reason? |
