Warning - rant that may not be coherent follows so I would suggest skipping this one. This is just a cathartic, I am stuck at home and sick of the predictive models and the back and forth, post:
One perspective. Term limits are a part of the problem. If we can put them in place, we can address that portion of the debacle.
We then can move to the issues of PACs and Super PACs and other donating factions. If the donors know that they cannot invest in a long-term politician we MIGHT be able to curb the problem.
List the issues and address them one at a time. Term limits, election reform, etc. No reason not to take on these items. Unless you are a career politician who would control the reform.
If we depend on the populace to manage this process, we end up with the extremes when most of the population is in the middle. - TC4145
Good luck getting Congress/Senate to vote to change it though
You’ll have to convince ppl to stop liking $$$
It is what it is unfortunately |

Probert brings more to the team than either one of them with the players in that lineup.
Yzerman
LaFontaine
Neely
Makarov(remember he was one of the best players in world not in the NHL for a decade)
All were capable of being 50+ goal scorers
I’m standing by my lineup.
Appreciate you disagreeing but not changing my stance.

It started way before that. Ford created the assembly line so he could maximize profits. He also basically invented mass produced charcoal. There was a poopload of scrap left over, so they made charcoal. The company? Kingsford. - Wetbandit1
So he could mass produce, but that didn't drive up prices. Material prices went up, people started wanting more money and Unions were going nuts,, driving everything up. In the 60's you could buy a car for 2,500 hundred dollars, Buy the 70's it had doubled almost tripled. |

So he could make more money. The robber barons are another example of late 19th, early 20th century greed. "Robber" is in the name. Slavery is another example. You know how much money you can make when you don't have to pay, and barely feed, your workforce? It's what this country is founded upon. |

They did that for ROR too
Lots of geniuses here
The selling low i was talking about refers to his talent/ceiling
It doesn’t make sense to me to to trade him if his value has dropped so far that we need to add a 1st to get a guy who has a lower ceiling than Mitts
*using Strome as the example here
I’m confident in Cozens being 2C quality
So I’d rather swing for the fences with Mitts than give up on such a talent - jdfitz77

I distinctly remember my AP History Book had a chapter called:
Robber Barons or Titans of Industry?
I mean it was pretty sweet to be them. Not so sweet to have your arm ripped off in a cotton mill |

Shorten the term, fine, but the Big Government policies (that many seem very willing to accept, and are even advocating for) will still remain. While the people are still left holding the shortest straw. - Ratsreign

2021-2022 season IMO he's full time 2C if things go as planned.
Next year, 3C if he's ready for the show. I would slow play his development. If he doesn't start here, I won't be screaming like others will. |

I would think Cozens starts off as a winger in the NHL. I think we do have our future 2C with him though. Wouldn’t hurt to double down on the position though. |

That may be true, but the $350BN tranche will dry up by mid-month, if not sooner. The second round of $250BN is currently being held hostage by the same people who have ran this country into the ground the last 25 years. - buffalokb
Just an fyi, since 1995 the GOP was in control of both houses of Congress from 1995-2007 and from 2015-19 (16 yrs). They controlled the House for 20 of those 25 years, controlled the Senate for 17 of those 25 years and had complete control of DC for 8 of 25 years.
Dems had control of both houses for 4 of 25 yrs. and controlled DC for 2 of 25 years.
Just saying.

What policies? - TC4145
More of a general statement than singling out a specific policy, any policy that puts more trust in & gives more responsibility and control to the government. Policies that only serve to make our society more reliant on the government. Policy that on it's face seems geared to help people, but in the long run only holds them back. Corporate America has many ills and even evils, but more government is certainly not the answer.
There's no easy, or perfect solution that I can see. |

We get it - GOP BAD, DEMS GOOD. By the way they both suck a$$ and we deserve better.
I do not vote party but I vote person. In fact during the last election, I wrote in my candidate as I think both of them suck. Notice, present tense. They sucked then, they suck now.
You know what is flipping poor? The Dems decided to concentrate on removing the sitting President and never did anything for us to promote leadership and provide a solution. Biden is NOT It. Sanders is NOT it and the powers that be made sure no one was brought forward who can mend the country.
They are both divisive. Neither is better than the other.
Run the same scenario in NY and you get the exact same thing BUT the opposite party has been in control.
POINT - they both suck. |

Even that is 5 times a full year of 09-10 H1N1, where we had a vaccine after a few months. Since people love comparing the two. - Wetbandit1
You're right, can't really compare the two since H1N1 was 4th page news after a few weeks. Also two things about H1N1. CDC issued multiple antiviral drug treatments within the first couple weeks of the first known case, why is the conversation right now that we have to wait for a vaccine and there is a huge fight in the country about using antiviral medications? Oh yeah that's right because orange man is bad. Also what would have been the death count if they classified like what they are doing today, as long as you have it that is your cause of death. In May we are all going to be shaking our heads saying what in the F just happened, hell I've been doing that for the last month. |

Because it is the fact that they both suck.
I am disappointed that a candidate of hope and reconciliation and leadership does not exist for the Presidential election.
And, you want to point out the Feds suck under the GOP and you left out the other part of the narrative, NYS sucks under the DEMS. They both suck.
Very passionate about no choices.
If you think my post was defensive, then I am not a good communicator. Or, you decided to read my post as if it was railing on your train of thought.

Too many people equate socialist programs with communism, which is not true. - Michael Pachla
Socialist policies that serve to kill any individual motivation because the government will take care of you. It's great to help our people when they are struggling, but in reality many become motivated NOT to better themselves because they don't want to lose the free money from the government. I'll never forget, in the early 90s when things were bad, I had to go apply for WIC for my infant son. I actually heard this said from one young mother to another there in the waiting room, "Girl, don't you know that if you have another baby you'll get a bigger check?"
Doesn't have to be full on communism to be no bueno. |

All I can say for myself is I'm happy to have been working from home the past month as multiple people have been in my office that have tested positive. I'd rather be home then spin the COVID lottery to see if I was lucky or unlucky. |

Is the bolded the overwhelming norm, just the norm, an infrequent occurrence, or an incredibly rare occurrence?
People tell stories like that without knowing how many people are taking that approach.
If it's very few, it's a minor concern.
The data should drive how real a problem that is, and of course, the vast amount of nuance that goes along with it. |
