It's $3.25M per for 2 years. - kingcong39
Well there is no way I would give him 3.25 mill a year, way to much for 1 decent year. |

I have no idea what kind of deal he's going to get, but $3.25M per for 2 years seems far from outlandish. |

Well it's just me, I am not giving a guy that much money to hopefully stay healthy and give me 30 pts. |

Banned for telling the blogger I'm sorry he inherited the blog when it devolved into this absolute cesspool but oh my god this place is quite possibly the worst thing going on the internet right now.
And if it was the blogger himself, good lord, he doesn't understand sarcasm.

Overall, what is the fascination with Brenden Dillon to give him a multi year deal at $4m per? |

The only thing, why Lewis. Why not try to resign Girgs or Larsson - Buff36
Two Cup rings and a bunch of playoff experience |

|
Hutton still? Yuck - jdfitz77
Hutton has one more year and he'll be in a back up role to Ullmark. It's a good role for him. |

The greatest whistle blower (in more than one way) in our countryβs history is always on here and you made fun of his reading comprehension. Heβs very fragile. You had no shot. |

He's pretty good defensively and adds a physical presence we don't have. Nearly every fight he's been in has been sticking up for a teammate. $4m is a slight raise to come to Buffalo and is pretty fair for a veteran dman with a lot of recent playoff experience. |

True. However, that one season came in an up-tempo system that the Sabres aspire to. Not saying he'd come close to those numbers but Buffalo usually pays a premium for FA's and he's a solid third liner who can hold the fort for two years while Mitts and Cozens develop. |

In addition, your two proposals had us signing Brodie for $6m a year. I think Dillon at $4m is a better value and a better fit for what the team needs |

Brodie is the better player by a good margin and a more likely candidate to anchor the 2nd pair? |

He may be better offensively, but Dillon is more of a shutdown dman and we don't have one of them. Dillon also played more playoff hockey last year than Brodie has in his career. $6m for a second pairing dman is probably not the best way to build a team. |

They're currently paying a 2nd pairing Dman $5.4M who ranges from mediocre to not good.
I'd prefer someone who is good and can drive play.
I admit to not knowing enough about the advanced stats of Dillon vs. Brodie to form a proper, fully informed opinion. |

It is a good deal FOR HIM, but not so good for Sabres, lol.
Couldn't resist.
I think you are right in that they will ride out his last year. |

Dillon sucks IMO
get a difference maker, or lean on Pilut for second pair |

good point...they could get rid of him and fill with someone else who'd probably cost a million or so less...however, they do know what they have in him plus it looks as if he has a good working relationship with Ullmark |

Not sure if you looked at my armchair submission, but I had traded McCabe and signed Dillon. You're getting better defensively and a lot more physicality.
I had Pilut as a bottom pairing LD.
What difference maker for LD would you consider? We have no shutdown dmen and don't need more offensive dmen. |
