if your moving reinhart for a #2 center
you need to fire your f@cking gm for trading ror, drafting casey and cozens - homiedclown
Done.
I'm on board.
Cozens likely 2 years out minimal on being a 2C.
Pay the man, go get a suitable 2C and worry about redundancy in year 3....they are valuable assets that should bring back a haul if Cozens develops into one. |

Disagree.
Skinner was utilized incredibly poorly, his contribution might, might be 4 or 5 points without looking it up. Not much a difference, maybe 1 draft slot higher.
The prospect selected, you hope equals Skinner's production when utilized properly...30sh goals, 50-60 pts, however the picks given away; 2nd in 2019, 3rd and 6th in 2020 will likely amount to nothing.
Believe what you will, but IMO you are reaching here. - IonSabres
Mojo looked much more comfortable on the wing and would have put up his 45 points no problem if he wasn’t miscasted as the 2C.
Olofsson, once comfortable at 5v5, did not look out of place at all and showed he could produce.
Kahun has a very small sample size, but he looks like what we thought we’d be getting with Sheary in terms of a middle 6 contributor.
Cozens will most likely start off on the wing this year and is a very good prospect. Hopefully he continues on his trajectory because fans will love him.
Let’s say we get Raymond/Holtz this year, we’ll have to let them marinate one more year in the SHL but once they make the jump you’ll be getting a top 6 winger for $950K per for the next 3 years.
All those 5 players combined will cost $10-12M next year yet we don’t see the problem with Skinner making $9M by himself ?
Amazing enough, the guy making $9M a year also needs a Center to produce just like the rest of the names on that list.

Not sure why everyone is afraid to have centers. Haven’t had a good combo since Drury/Briere, finally got one in Eichel/Oreilly and that got ended quick.
We only have 1 now and people are thinking we can’t get another one because we might have “too many” in 3 years. |

which did not work of course
he really should have just dumped every rental he could have and turned the page
including vesey
I do like kahun, pens gave him up for 8 games of sheary and 7 games of e rod - homiedclown
A complete steal for those two.
and
I agree with unloading the rentals.
Botts sucks, and for Cap genius, giving Skinner $9m is crazy...hence why I don't want him anywhere near the Reino contract negotiations. |

It’s a big reason why Reinhart needs to be traded.
Botts: “so my teams for three years absolutely sucked. Hmm how could I improve it. I know! I’ll just pay those same players even bigger contracts” 🙄🙄🙄 |

I can’t speak for him, but I was fully on board with bottoming out for Cozens.
I expected this team to pick in the 10-15 range this year and am not complaining at all that we are picking top 10 this year either.
Some people will say we are “wasting” seasons I like to refer to it as building a Cup Contender. - Pegullaville
I'd say it's 50/50 Botterill screws up the pick at 7. Or he'll take a defenseman. Sanderson! |

Get ready for Botts bringing back many of these guys if he stays as GM.
The stars might align if they can't generate meaningful revenue for the balance of this season...and since alot of their revenue is gate driven, it is suspect that they will be able to do so.
So, that could
A) cause teams to move decent players to manage to a flat Cap...even with a compliance Buyout
B) deflate the UFA market in terms of $'s and term. 8f UFA's can't get the typically large and long deals, they may revert to 2 year deals until the Cap goes up again
C) make existing RFA's more attractive as trade bait...young, cost controlled assets would be a premium to certain teams....maybe that bodes well for trade value of Mitrs and Tage.
That could result in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a savvy GM with available Cap. |

Well, you have 3 guys on their ELC in that computation.
Mojo looked like poop for $4.5m IMO, he better look better at LW, on line 3 too boot.
Olofsson looked good with Kahun and Mojo for those 4 games or so...would be a good 3rd line IMO.
2nd line looks kinda barren if you use those guys as L3.

Sure.
One big one really, if gate revenue losses aren't offset by another medium of revenue.
It drives the rest. |

The first if does not drive the rest. It might, but it also might not.
A, B, and C are if's that aren't necessarily going to be true even if your first if happens. |

Cozens should be 3C next year to break him in. Craig button was on instigators and things he’s nhl ready next year.
Obviously he has to earn it. But still. |

Cozens had that thumb injury that kept him from training all summer. He looked good at the Prospects Challenge and in camp, but he wasn't a difference maker, which he needed to be and then-some to make the team. Am of the opinion that he was headed to Jr unless he completely dominated at camp. Which he didn't. |

I know. I wanted him to make the team and play 3 RW this last year. He definitely earned it and was better than the players you named. |

skinner trade IMO was a steal
our dumb coach and dumb gm refuse to put him in the spot where he scored 20 freaking goals last season
we finally have a 40 goal scorer again after 11 seasons, and sign him to a long term deal
and bury him down the f@cking lineup
only in buffalo is something that dumb happening - homiedclown
Yep. You nailed it. I'm fine with the Skinner trade and contract. He'll be fine, as long as whomever our coach is plays him on Eichel's line and the first line PP. |

Can say that for 98% of the wingers in the NHL.
That’s my point.
In a league that has a hard salary cap, we could or went with wingers that had less talent with Skinner if it meant shoring up the other positions on the team.
Like a goalie that could stop a beachball for example.
Or a 2C and a 3C.
Johan Larsson was our 2nd most important forward this year in terms of “team” success. |

Building through the draft has always been the right method, now if you blow the picks then it’s at the fault of the amateur scouts not that the method is flawed.
The teams that draft well always have success no matter what sport. |
