Let's just say I am above the threshold where it starts to phase out.

As am I, but even if it's half the $1200, it's still a nice little bit.

From what I was told, it's $50 less per $1000 over the $75K number off the $1200.

Meh .. i would stay home and not risk the life of others
- gerbe75pts

If you can, and desire to do so, good for you.

Wagging your finger at those that don't, however, is ridiculous.

That is correct.

What I meant was, the check I am getting wouldn't be enough to replace a single paycheck. I am still employed and working from home, fortunately.

Most people, especially furloughed workers, are going to get less take-home pay than they would would otherwise. "Just collect unemployment and stay inside" shows almost zero financial acumen whatsoever.

Just work from home

- gerbe75pts

yeah anyone in retail, health care, factories warehouses, bartenders, waiters/waitresses, auto workers, electricians, plumbers, landscape, cops, firemen, packers, carpenters, truck drivers, housekeepers, security guards, cooks, janitors, stock clerks, office clerks and cashiers can all do their work at home

for the record I just listed about half the people in the work force, if not more

I'm 100% sure the job can't make you stay in a office if you feel your life is in danger
Just work from home

- gerbe75pts

Dude, not everyone (probably more who can't) can work from home...
Think
Grocery stores, gas stations, medical workers, police/fire/rescue, maintenance man (or woman), the list goes on.

*Yeah, like Homie said....

IMO best draft

- homiedclown

both drafts--'03 and '79--are considered the best draft classes ever...the one caveat with the '79 draft is that it was actually two draft classes in one as the nhl lowered the eligibility age from 20 yrs. old to 19 that year

most the people that CAN work from home are not overly affected by being shut down for a few weeks anyways.. its the ones that have to go to their place of work to make money

it's a subjective and highly futile argument, like trying to say who the best nhl player of all time is

I don't get how people keep comparing him to nylander..

One got handed the kingdome and the other got treated like dirt

- gerbe75pts

I'd say the comparison is:

Nylander 8th overall pick
Mitts 8th over all pick

Back to back years, drafted by the same team

And

Neither look like they really give a Sh!t about their careers.
Neither works especially hard, but both have talent.

Both look like 2nd round picks , not 8th overall.
Both suck at the nhl level
Both look to be ahl players
Both disappointing hockey players.

Sure, one guy sucked more and started in Rochester
The other sucks too and got demoted to Rochester.

Casey was handed a spot, to make sure he didnt stay at college and pull a vesey.

Well, ignoring for a moment that you can't just quit and collect unemployment, let's look at the actual numbers.

The median household income for a NY family of four is $65,000/annum or $5,416/mo, gross.

That family would max out the unemployment benefit at $504/week,*** which is $2,200/mo. And $600 extra a week (for three months) through CARES. That's another $2,400/mo or a total of $4,600/mo. Now add in the Stimulus check that is $3,400 for a family of four. Divide that by the same three months and that makes the monthly benefit in excess of $5,700. And I don't think the benefits are taxable, but you probably know more about that. (And *** if it's a dual income family i don't know if both furhloughed workers would get the $504/week unemployment.)

You really gotta pay attention to all the details instead of just spouting off the top of your head.

I'd say , most of the "stay at home" jobs are better paying jobs? Everyone I know working from home has a good income, including 19.
