have to commend Obama on that talk.
However nothing was done by him / his administration to address the issue on a global cooperation scale; US government did not contribute anything financially to CEPI (when Obama was still President) - CEPI was officially starting in January 2017, but was 'conceived' in 2015. |

CEPI was started in 2017, and you are saying that Obama/US didnt contribute when he was no longer president?
ummm..ok |

Obama was President until 20th January 2017.
And these contributions are normally planned 1-2 year in advance (so 2016 was the year for US gov't to get contributions approved for CEPI; I just indicated that CEPI was conceived in 2015 and formally started in 2017). |

So we've been stocking up pretty well at the house, but it's getting to a point where I need (want?) to make a weekly beer run because I have no self control when there's a bunch of cold frosty beers in the fridge, and there's odds and ends that we realize we don't have that we could use food-wise, like we're running out of rice and onions.

I have a gas station 30 seconds from my house that just started selling beer and liquor in October. It’s glorious and they stay open on Monday’s because it’s still a gas station. Plus the have longer hours then the regular lcbo. |

I spent 250 at the LCBO last week, stocked up on things you can't get at the grocery like good Cider and Radler and Barolo, probably won't be back there for a month or so though |

not that it means anything anyways in terms of what Obama did..but from this article
https://www.sciencemag.or...against-next-viral-threat
The U.S. government, one of the world's largest investors in vaccines against emerging infectious diseases, has yet to commit anything to CEPI, but Røttingen says he'll try again now that the U.S. presidential election is over.
it seems the US (under Obama) was already investing heavilty into stuff like that.

That's magical. Imagine the gas station stopped selling beer and liquor.
That's what it was like moving from Montreal to Toronto |

I think this week in general everything will be busy. A lot of people received their EI or the $2000 from the government so they are going out and spending it. Plus I think some stores are closed tomorrow with the holiday. |

Nice. I last went in before the super shutdown. I live near one though so during my daily walks I pass by and the line up is down the street. I'm back to work and our offices are close to a Walmart and the line goes to their loading area and beyond |

O I know the US is investing quite a bit in vaccine research under NIH-NIAID. It is upstream research though (discovery) of individual organizations/universities; not so much global collaborative programmes.
But in his talk he was mentioning a global mechanism (for vaccine development)- which was set up ; but US didn't contribute to that.
so yes, quite a bit of investment in vaccine research, not so much in vaccine development. |

I walked by one the other day, and the line was 14-deep (yes, I counted).
But it's a bit deceiving - they are restricting numbers inside the store - on a normal day, they'd all be inside.
Mrs. Wedgie did a wine run earlier this week, so we are fully stocked.
Beer is another story, but so far, my beer store has been easy access. |

No bowling, no golf, no ball hockey, ...
Only thing I have to look forward to is Mölkky in the park with my s/o but even that's not such a great time with 2 people. |
