I don’t think it had anything to do with being Russian. It was about having a “skilled” player in the minors while the likes of Beagle, Sutter, Schaller, Motte, Granlund, Gaunce, Eriksson, etc were playing.

I'd argue he probably did have more raw skill than any of the players mentioned above. He didnt have as much defensive awareness, backbone or hustle as any of the above players either though.

Pfffft.....who needs skill in the bottom six when you can have multiple plugs, I think we had one of the worst fourth lines in the NHL.
