What the (frank) does that have to do with 2014? You said too bad they didn’t rebuild in 2014, so commented the owner wouldn’t allow it, now we’re back in 2008 talking about re-signing the Sedins...WTF??? - LeftCoaster
How does he rebuild after all his NMC & NTC’s?
Ignoring his crappy drafting is the mess he made & nobody in the system to retool on the fly. Boston managed somehow. |

You said he didn't have a chance to move on from the Sedins I said he did. Gillis was a big mouth with a lot of promises and left us holding the bag. He was one of the worst GMs in Canucks history |

Hey, never play down the almighty Prez Trophy, that suckers a beauty. Much harder to win over a full 82 game schedule than a two month tournament |

Why are you Gillis loyalists still creaming your jeans? The guy left this team in a disaster.
I'll never forget that he celebrated the Stanley Cup win before the meltdown. What a (frank)ing idiot GM.... same approach to drafting I guess. |

I never even mentioned the Sedins??? Where in the below did I type Sedins?
Ya it’s too bad Aquilini wouldn’t let that happen and fired Gillis because that’s what he wanted to do. We had tons of guys with value - LeftCoaster |

It was also because he was completely incompetent at drafting, but hey whatever story makes you happy! I wonder why he hasnt been hired since? - neem55

If I remember correctly Gillis handed out 7 full NTCs and 2 NMCs
Burkie even reported the other day Kadri and 2 first round picks for Luongo were agreed upon but Roberto said no thanks.
Also thank you Dan Hamhuis and Edler for refusing to waive
So if you are talking about moving the 14 other flaming pieces of garbage that didn't have a NTC like Aaron Volpatti and Eddie Lack good luck with your rebuild - VANTEL
I thought Burk said TO balked that the price was too high?
Luong has trade protection and Gillis moved him. Benning moved Kesler, Bieska and Garrison, all had trade protection.
If he really wanted to rebuild, and got the go ahead, I’m just saying he could literally have “protected the twins legacy” and rebuilt in the time before they retired. But instead, he tried to cobble another couple seasons together, got canned, and Benning just continued on doing what Gillis had previously, with better/higher draft picks. |

It’s the absolute truth, Aquilini wanted to press on in 2014 and Gillis said he thought they should rebuild but wasn’t allowed to. Philosophical differences led to his firing. - LeftCoaster
It's the truth according to a well known liar Mike Gillis. He's the source to these reports. A man who was well known for making verbal contract agreements to more than one team at a time during his agent days. A known liar and manipulator.

Must have been, I’m guessing. His questions to the league about travel for the team and subsequent changes they made for the organization were innovative. Not to mention heath, fitness, sleep, etc.....he was ahead of the curve.
Plus the additions of the depth that put the core over the hump. Manny, Hamhuis, Torres, Lappy, Higgins, all great moves.
Certainly had his faults but dam that was a great five years to be a Nicks fan. - LeftCoaster
I actually really liked those changes too, the sleep, food and training stuff were honestly really good initiatives. As for his minor trades/signing, I don’t see any outside of erhoff/hamhuis that were great. Did he get Salo as well? |

Gillis didn't move Luongo . Luongo's agent moved him and there was only one team Luongo would accept. Much like Kesler.
Gillis was a tool. I am still thanking him for his recapture penalty also |

Road the coattails of other GM’s moves & left an empty cupboard mess. 👎👎 - Nighthawk
Yeah, and the Canucks were such a drafting powerhouse before Gillis got here. Damn him for tainting that legacy. |

I’m just having some fun with Mak, as for Gillis, he was such a d!ck and he certainly sucked at some major parts of the GM position, however, I look back at the team him and a few other general managers brought together with fond memories. It’s really too bad his regime sucked on the draft floor so bad. |

Sorry, but if Gillis didn’t move Luongo then you should be blaming the agent for the recapture too. |
