Keith Ballard for Steve Bernier Michael Grabner and a first - VANTEL
That was bad! Booth was another terrible trade for Gilly. |

Yeah, and the Canucks were such a drafting powerhouse before Gillis got here. Damn him for tainting that legacy. - bloatedmosquito
True but he sunk it to the lowest level lol |

Sorry, but if Gillis didn’t move Luongo then you should be blaming the agent for the recapture too. - 1970vintage
How do you know I don't blame the agent? I never want to see Luongo his agent or Gillis near the Canucks organization ever again. |

Unbelievable. This group likes to grade piles of sh it from best to worst and then argue about it.
Mind numbing. |

Keith Carney for a second
Derrik Roy for Connauton and a second .
Absolute worst GM in the teams history
But hey we did get a sleep doctor so we will call it even |

Come on, Lefty and I were just doing what we do, nothing serious going on.
Lighten up , live a little.... Be happy knowing that Benning is the best Canucks GM ever, smile it's Saturday, all day, then guess what, it's Saturday night. |

Why are you Gillis loyalists still creaming your jeans? The guy left this team in a disaster.
I'll never forget that he celebrated the Stanley Cup win before the meltdown. What a (frank)ing idiot GM.... same approach to drafting I guess. - boonerbuck
Yeah, didn't he party in a Boston restaurant with FA, get drunk and tell a reporter that the Cup was in the bag? And this was after like Game 2? |

Not one Canuck GM did the job they were hired to do. Not one. Three GMs came close regardless of the circumstances. Thank god for them otherwise this franchise would essentially be the Washington Generals of the NHL. |

Brian Burke: 6 drafts - D.Sedin, H.Sesin, R.Kesler, K.Bieksa, J.Ruutu & *RJ Umberger*
Dave Nonis: 4 drafts - L.Bourdon, C.Schneider, M.Grabner, A.Edler, J.Hansen & M.Raymond
Mike Gillis: 6 drafts - B.Horvat, C.Hodgson, B.Hutton, B.Gaunce
Benning 6 drafts
That’s more than 20 years. Benning has, by a wide margin, had the most success at the draft. Those other three guys, especially Gillis, were awful. |

Burkie was a Canuck GM and he won a cup. Too bad it was for another team . |

Well, I bet if you looked at a list of Stanley cup winners, you would probably find a similar list of GM’s who “won the draft” |

As you know, most winning GM’s hardly ever get to stay for the entire process from drafting high to raising the Cup...none really that I can think off. |

I know, but every so often we fall back on this topic and it’s pointless until some GM puts a team together that can win the cup because that’s the only thing that matters. |

It must be nice to have your core drafted and acquired for you and then absolutely bungle every draftpick after that. I loved the hamuis signing and the Salo deal, ill give him that. - neem55
I could never give Gillis credit for Hamhuis. The guy had his eyes on this team, and only wanted to play here. Any one of us could have signed him. He did take the best team in the league, get to only one Stanley Cup final, and fail to keep it relevant beyond one good season/playoff and then one good season. Truly an innovator... On how to suck as a GM. |
