It must be nice to have your core drafted and acquired for you and then absolutely bungle every draftpick after that. I loved the hamuis signing and the Salo deal, ill give him that. - neem55
I could never give Gillis credit for Hamhuis. The guy had his eyes on this team, and only wanted to play here. Any one of us could have signed him. He did take the best team in the league, get to only one Stanley Cup final, and fail to keep it relevant beyond one good season/playoff and then one good season. Truly an innovator... On how to suck as a GM.
Oh NOOOOOOO! We lost an offensive minded prospect for nothing!!!! THAT BASTARD BENNING!!!!!
Except that he had multiple chances when our team had no offensive talent save for Horvat and Boeser and couldn't hack it then, nor stay with the team when he was on the 1st line with Petey and Boeser for a significant stretch. And we put him on waivers multiple times and nobody picked him up and so... yeah, lost him for nothing when we essentially got him for nothing to the KHL where he'll probably do ok but not great since he refuses to do anything but hang out at the red line like a goal suck looking for the breakaway pass. - DariusKnight
Canucks didn't make him an offer he is a UFA - VANTEL
Unless otherwise informed of changes dates isn't that July 1?
Technically NHL still has season and/or playoffs to complete 19/20 season what if they did resume and there were a rash of injuries he'd be on the reserve list.
Maybe not being picked up on waivers was a hint. - Marwood
Not bringing up if Goldy fits in to Canucks future or if other NHL teams want him. Its if NHL contracted players can negotiate KHL deals why can't Canucks do same with someone they want like Podz.

The AHL season was cancelled as were playoffs & Memorial Cup. The season is over.

What team did he officially sign with today? I missed that .
Just checked Cap friendly he is still listed with them . They are usually pretty quick with transactions. Tell me when you find out what team Goldy signed with.

He doesn't have an AHL contract but guaranteed NHL one with Canucks plus would be RFA too until July 1 without qualifying offer. As well as in the worst case scenario injury reserve list for NHL call up if needed.
But that again isn't the point its on contracted players NHL v KHL and if deals can be reached (not signed) why don't Canucks go full on in for someone like Podz?
Its probably a small point but that's all we have right now to flesh out.

We know its not a signing but a deal in place. Unlike the tampering rules with other leagues just musing over what leeway Canucks have to press forward with someone like Podz.

I don't care enough to look any further. This is the most I've ever talked about him. Time to have a word with myself at the woodpile.

It’s actually June 25th. As Vantel already said, he hasn’t signed, but plans to as the Canucks have (likely) informes his agent he won’t receive a qualifying offer.

Which is all understood and not part of the specifics of what the point on the mechanics of negotiating these contracts. Why brought up if this can happen while technically under contract why can't Canucks press to get a deal done with KHL players like Podz?
