Did he get a big fat fine? Hopefully he’s not collecting CERB...

RCMP said there’s nothing in the criminal code he can be charged with. Apparently he was upset with the condo board over a grievance, he feels shame (because he got caught)

Hmm. You’d think there would be something in the emergency measures act (or whatever they enacted to get all this poop done) about civil conduct.

Hopefully public shame is enough...

Apparently a former F1 driver.

The first who was a duchebag who spit on the elevator buttons in his apartment building as he was getting out. Then a guy walks in, pushes the buttons... caught on the security camera.

It’s absolutely not nonsense though, you stated people will have to apologize to Benning because he drafted a good young core, I simply stated that’s exactly what Lowe, McTavish & Chiarelli have collectively done. By that you’d have to support that Oiler fans owe them an apology.

Lowe - Hall (Larson), RNH, Klefbom
MacT - Nurse & Draisaitl
Chia - McDavid, Jones, Bear, Yamamoto, Kassian

That’s the core of the team those three put together, so the fans should thank them?

- LeftCoaster

That's right. Plus the prospect pool and Utica finally look decent. Drafting has been good to excellent for 4-5 years. And the team has systematically improved over the past 4 seasons in the standing every year. Almost to the point where we can start talking playoffs on a regular basis.

lol the Oiler situation you refer and compare us too is odd...we haven't been destitute since 2007 basically under Lowe, MacT and Chia. Didn't almost squander 5 first overall picks over a 10 year period with not much to show for it other than one PO year under Chia. Oiler fans won't be thanking Lowe, Chia and MacT (unless they want to) but they will be thanking Holland much in the way we will be thanking Benning in few years whether you like to admit it or not. You're comparing three GM's over a 12-14 year period in EDM to what Benning is trying to accomplish in less than 6 seasons.

Sure Benning has his flaws like ALL Gm's do. All I'm trying to say is that we finally have something to build around here the past few seasons and the signs are there that Benning has a hand in quite a bit of it. I know regardless of how much the team improves over the next few seasons I know you and a few other here will always find ways to chop Benning down because that's what you all love to do. But it doesn't change the fact that apologies will be in order.

Lefty spent years demanding this team finish lower in the standings because thats what a smart GM would do. At the same time, finishing low is a clear indicator of a bad GM.

I think they (the government) are using some emergency something something to get all the financial resources through quickly. But I’m pretty busy painting things and fixing sprinklers to actually read the news...

No question Sam Pollock is the best GM in NHL history, followed closely by Bill Torrey.

Pollock had the benefit of having territorial rights to most of the best players for a few years.

12 teams only for some other years. Almost like saying Toe Blake was the best coach ever.

No he didn’t, the NHL Entry Draft, or Amateur Draft back then, started in 1963, Pollock became Montreal’s GM in 1964. Guy was a shrew GM, won the Cup 9 of his 14 years as a GM.

Pollock traded two kids for Ken Dryden, talked the California Golden Seals into trading their first overall pick to him where he selected Guy Lafleur, also drafted Larry Robinson that year, guy was way ahead of his time and understood the importance of the draft.

He had his team in place, and in 68 six teams were added and just getting started. Habs select Lafluer first over all in 71 and won the cup in the same year. Same draft Habs pick up Larry Robinson at 20 th

1973 win the cup again and 7 th pick Bob Gainey. Year before Steve Shut at 4 th.

In other words the draft back then is no where near resembles the modern day draft.

They've enacted the Emergency Act, which is essentially an updated version of the War Measures Act (ergo, Canada is under martial law) but aren't fully using all the provisions in it.

What? As of when? I thought they were just consulting provinces on wether or not it was necessary?

I know the PC government in NB is for it, but then again we've taken stricter measures than other provinces and so far only have just over 100 cases.

Most provinces are against it from what I've read.

Personally i'm fine with it if used properly. Deal with the virus, deal with the economy afterwards. Just deal with the (frank)ing virus so I don't have to deal with this poop for 2 more years. Eradicate while you try to vaccinate.

This slowing down bullpoop is a fine first line of defence, but is the plan really to cycle it in order to build herd immunity? That could take awhile.

The problem as illustrated is that all provinces have their own say within their own jurisdictions. Meanwhile, they all interact indirectly.

Dbot can correct me if i'm wrong but NZ has been pretty consistent from the beginning. We're shutdown for a month, after that we can at least open things up within the country. Borders will take longer. It seems to be working.

How we deal with the virus as growing season develops is somewhat critical to our food supply network for the coming year.

Things hit NZ about a week or so after BC, which gave them time here to prep i think.
When things did hit here, the government reacted pretty swiftly and people bought in quick. They closed the borders, restricted travel and shut down the country pretty quick. Declared state of emergency which gives the government a lot of powers.
People do overall have more faith in the police, military and government here tho.
From taking with friends back home, things are more restrictive here than in BC, which i'm happy with as a front line health worker.
