How much would you be willing to pay for a VR experience?
- bloatedmosquito

After losing our business, nothing.

BC gets about 3000 deaths per month.
- VANTEL

38,308 people died in BC last year, cancer and heart diseases accounted for the highest number of total deaths.

Why not put little cameras throughout the stadium, and people can pay online to pretend to be "in that seat" and get a view from there. Camera always follows the action. Eventually they can create a VR experience that will allow users to feel like they are at the game, from their home. Get a mix of fans in the stands, VR users, and people just watching on TV.
- Retinalz

Or you could just watch on TV like we normally do, which I have no issues with at all.

Agreed. The hockey will be dreadful. Resuming the season and/or playoffs reeks of greed.
- Marwood

I may glance at it to see what's going on but I certainly won't be glued to the set like I am in winter. I'm outside pretty much from May until September.

Read an interesting article about the CFL. They can’t operate without gate revenue. They basically have to wait this out until it’s over. If and when the CFL returns, the financial picture will be bleak.

Smoking is the biggest killer and the Gov does nothing. Make too much money off taxes.

The number may jump to 39 k next year due to the virus. That is not horrible. I think BC is doing a very good job of isolating it. Numbers could have been much worse.

Hard to say really. If it is a true VR experience, spending $20? It would be a 180 degree camera, multiple people can connect to one camera. It would be the biggest revenue stream for owners.

Your last two posts summed up my point exactly. VR doesn’t provide a better experience than TV provides now. And as Marwood pointed out, finances are tight. People don’t have extra money to pay for gimmicks.

No one watches it except old people and people from Saskatchewan because they have nothing else to do there.

No, it was broken down in several phases, Detroit being by far the worst team, next group, then just outside of being a bubble team, then the largest group of bubble teams, etc.
I figured it would be to hard of a concept for you to grasp.

$20 per game? I don’t know. How much is centre ice for an entire season? Cable already provides a “virtual” experience. IMO, TV or in-stadium are the only two experiences worth paying for, and cable is cheap.

They the are worried about is the spread rate. They know the virus can stay on a surface for over 2 weeks. They know it is killing more than 2% of people who get it. It is not just killing the elderly. People who are seemingly healthy, but have unknown issues are dying from this. People who are sick are dying from this. If we went back to normal today and people just carried on, we would have more deaths than the flu, by a significant amount. I just did a calculation(my math is probably wrong, I bet someone here could to it better. But 1,968,887 known cases with 123,783 deaths is roughly 6% of everyone who has it died. It is hard to say how many mild cases got it, but didn't get tested due to no need, but that still paints an ugly picture.
There are 5,071,000(roughly) people in BC. Imagine we go back to our regular day-to-day and half of us get it, 6% of those people dying would be roughly 152,130 deaths. Even half that number is HUGE. That would be on top of all the other deaths we see on a daily basis.

Gate attendance has been really good for the CFL over the past few years. Many of the teams are now publicly owned. But the TV revenue is absolutely poop. Without people in the stands they have no chance of survival.

I saw the XFL is once again one-and-done.
