actually 2.1m cases and 140k deaths so far. these are figures for the first 4 months of covid 19 with most countries around the world enacting strict measures trying to control it.

the h1n1 totals are over a 1+ year term (with an approximate 30% of people already having antibodies prior to being infected) so let's revisit the covid 19 numbers in a few months (even with the strict control measures.)

sometimes it's not even deliberate misrepresentation of the numbers. italy (i believe) was only reporting in hospital deaths whereas a lot of people died at home. unless they were tested posthumously (which did not happen), they were not listed as covid 19.

even within the states, there has been an increase in cardiac arrest deaths which aren't listed as related to coronavirus.
