Just seen a beat down video on Twitter of two guys in Richmond in industrial area detaining a guy and ruffing him up while calling the cops. The girlfriend comes to the rescue to try to free him and on of the guys hauls off and decks her with a solid punch . Ugly video

He won a gold medal, absolutely robbed Demitra to preserve a win in the semis.

Not to dis-credit Lou's achievements as they were very good too...but 21 goals against in 4 games Vs Boston in 2011 (regardless of the three wins) is a choke...plain and simple.

If you can't understand that Bettman has influence one way or the other you'd better find a new sport champ.

Don't be so bloody naive Neemer!!

Ill get my tinfoil hat

Bettman works for the owners.

Maybe, but this is a team without their 2C healthy, without their 3C and their top defensive Dman.

They were also a team that couldn't score so even a 2-0 deficit seemed insurmountable.

Could he have been better? Yes. But placing the lack of a cup at his feet is insane, and probably a large reason he couldn't give 2 (frank)s about Vancouver when the time came to retire.

Fair Points of course.

I'm not blaming Lou solely but he was a large part of it.

Bettman/Campbell, AV, injuries, on and on I've said many times time there were many factors at play. But really that 2011 team was good enough to get past it all. They had to beat many factors just couldn't get it done. It wasn't really 'one thing' per se'.

I just don’t see how he gets away with it unless the majority are own board, It’s not that it couldn’t be I just think it would be a hard sell/hard to get away with.

Players would be suspicious as well, if they really suspected refs of this kinda stuff. As pacificgem said, they put the whistles away in the playoffs, it’s a time honored tradition.

I was just reading an article in the Times about some of the domestic abuse reported due to covid-19 . You have to wonder about what's not being reported more than what is I guess, with the emergency lines busy as hell.

2011 was the single most dramatic shift away from the obstruction rules that were established in 2005/06. It's remained that way since but the discrepancy between regular season and post-season wasn't as big prior.

We've definitely learned the hard way that you need the physical guys and I am somewhat concerned that the Canucks are once again building their team around two highly skilled but undersized superstars.

Benning does appear to be stiffening up the remainder of the lineup with guys like Miller, Pearson, Toffoli, etc. But it will be very interesting to see if Petterson, Hughes and Boeser are made irrelevant once the rules change. Main reason making the playoffs this year was so important.

Once again why line construction & dynamics cone into play...

Need warriors & determination come the PO’s. Everything amps up to another level.

Miller Petey Toffoli
Pearson Bo Boeser
Ferland Gaudette JV

Fairly feisty lines overall

Small apartments, people have no space. Out in the city, thousands are getting sick every day. Stress is high, you're in each other's faces all day. Women, children getting abused.

I see one of the councillors suggested shutting down 75 miles of street to allow people more space for social distancing. Sidewalks are packed in that city as anyone who's ever walked down Broadway knows.

Was just looking at numbers NB have done a spectacular job of fighting the virus. Looks like best in the country.

BC for it's size is outstanding. Que has the most close to 10 k cases. Ont close behind and then BC is closer to the 1 k mark.

It burns your ass that I was so far ahead doesn't it

I think I beat you in regular season by 60 points.

Oh man the news out of the US is ugly this morning. Seven states never even instituted stay at home measures, some of them experiencing significant community transmission issues now. Trump supporting protesters to get out and take their liberty back from state governors. This is civil war type poop, just that it’s being fought on twitter instead of Gettysburg.

Was just talking to the wife and it seems a lot of the mindset of countries now is that 3% is an acceptable number instead of shutting down the world.

Have you seen Ken Burn’s documentary The Civil War?

It’s really good. Can’t wait for the sequel.

not at all, I enjoy the pool but I thought I saw you saying you’d won? When you haven’t, as the season was interrupted and you were tied 5-5 with Northy in the championship match. It ain’t over till it’s over chump.

I did win the season . I didn't say I won the playoffs.
