If you recall the first SARS (also a coronavirus) died out and has not had a reported case since 2004. They made a big deal about that too but that one was nowhere near the level of this one. Death rate was about 11% though. - JRR1285
I don't know man, there are too many unknowns with this thing. Over 40k americans have died in less than 2 months really. It can live on surfaces for up to 48 hours, people who have no symptoms can pass it. Completely healthy people who have no medical history are dying from it as well. I tend to lean towards the side of caution till we have more answers on how it can be slowed down at least |

Yeah, it's scary for sure. But I question many of these reports about it killing healthy people. Some definitely appear to be healthy and free of disease. These people should not be dying from a "normal" illness but they are, terrifying (for real). But some look like they are being reported as "healthy" just because they have no medical history because they are just dealing with undiagnosed issues.
One of them was a teacher who "was healthy all of his life and an athlete". Yeah, maybe an athlete 15 years ago in HS/College but the guy was heavy and likely had underlying conditions.
What you say is definitely true though, we need to learn more about it. The death rate is almost certainly higher than the flu or any other "contagion" we are accustomed to. It's not Ebola but it certainly appears fully capable of causing significant damage within developed countries. |

I hope you used blue painters tape to adhere the picture of Kreider to your screen. Anything else could leave a residue that ruins your screen. |

It's insane, it really is. People are wearing gloves... still touching their faces and bodies, etc. All the plastic they put over the credit card readers. What does that do? The same plastic that everyone else is touching. Some card readers require you to use the stylus pen now. Why? So everyone is touching that instead of the screen. It's comical. - TheMessiah94
It is, and it's really unfortunate. These "measures" in place are likely(definitely) not really working because of the individuals who fail to realize that every time you touch a potentially contaminated surface you can't touch anything else until your glove is thrown away or your hands are washed/sanitized. Communal areas/items (credit card readers, door handles etc) like you mentioned are not being cleaned consistently. The only place I observed where they were cleaning them after each customer was home depot.
Stop and Shop and other super markets are supposed to have wipes to sanitize your cart handles but I have seen them remain empty. Self checkout scanners are not being cleaned. The list goes on and on. We are doing this in between thing that aside from the stay at home orders are not being effective. Not to mention all of the gloves and masks flying around the ground from scumbags who don't thrown them away. I'm even finding them in my yard.

Exactly, every person would be wearing 600 pairs of gloves a day if they followed the guidelines. The Shop Rite by me has a person coming along and wiping every handle on the doors in the frozen and dairy aisles. She goes from one to another, wiping the handles. With the exact same wipe!!! I even saw her drop it on the floor and she just continued using it on the next handle.
As long as this sh1t is going on, I'm going to have fun. I just ordered this mask, I plan on wearing it out to the stores. Very apropos too.

The main reason this virus is taking a toll in America has more to do with the state of disease already in the country.
Obesity, lung disease, heart disease, diabetes, liver disease and auto immune disease, are all leading factors in the bad outcomes for this mess.
If anything good comes of this, and I sincerely doubt it, maybe people will start to take better care of themselves, so that they’re not so vulnerable. - OLDSCHOOL#6
I've been seeing more people outside, so that's a good thing although I seriously doubt that most people will start to take care of themselves. Expect obesity to rise. |

Happens with the regular flu as well. I will say that this has me a bit freaked out. |
