I don't think he was calling it great drafting, just that they had a great 1C. I mean he routinely scored 50 goals a year before injuries toned it down somewhat.

I get that but to suck as bad as they did & get him doesn’t get kudos. Sucked 1 year after a good season with a good team & get Hedman 2OA is a big underachievement fluke. Yet they still won nothing & here the same type of team gets less love in our dominant days. I’m no TBL lover nor do I think they’ve done much other than draft Kucherov. Too bad it wasn’t a Daigle or Yak draft.

My point is when a team has to suck so pathetically to luck out for Lemieux Crosby McDavid Matthews etc they get no credit here. Shlt is still shlt & nothing more.

I like Hedman, but if I had to pick one Dman in the league it would be Seth Jones.

He’s the only guy i consider on the same level, there’s an argument to be made and i love both.

They've done some good things man, there's a reason they're at the top of the league year after year. Vasilevskiy was a good pick. Point is a great pick. Killorn was a good pick.

Did they get lucky with top 3 picks, yes. But they've also surrounded them with good talent.

Benning is a genius for defying draft odds and still picking Elias and QH, both undersized players. I mean it's a little scary that your top two stars weigh 170 and 175 lbs respectively but there's no denying the talent.

I wonder how that holds up in the playoffs. That's why i'm currently against trading JV unless the return is substantial. He at least has wheels to skate with the stars and at 23 years old and 225lbs can still grow his game.

Drafting 1OA & taking Stamkos is a no brainer nothing to do with great drafting.

What does that have to do with anything we’re discussing

Brian Moran is a pitcher for the Blue Jays.

Or

Brian Moran is an American politician who’s the Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security in Virginia. Might have been a play on words but I doubt it.

He built a team he thought could win, they still sucked. He cost himself draft positioning yet still ended up with impact players. I'd saying that's defying the odds.

I’m cool. Better than fawning over other teams. At least I will give credit where due.

Aside from a year here and there TB has been there since we were. They also won a cup in 2004. It's really not even close.

I’ll give you 2004. After that they squandered away opportunity like a champ lol
