It can be done with the Leafs being a better team.

People just have to realize Johnnson/Kap and likely Dermott would have to be moved.

Just like TB and when they were after JT...high end players can be added to any team. You just have to get rid of some average ones.

- Santo_44

Average ones that can move up and down the line up are needed depth for cup wins.

It’s pretty much impossible to tell how much Pietrangelo can expect to get in this environment. He’d probably not want to sign for more than a year or two. Maybe he’ll stay put.
- Canada Cup

I honestly feel like he signs a year extension with the blues on the cheaper end until the financials of the league are sorted and then he cashes in next off season.

Kap is better than Kerfoot, so I'd prefer the Leafs keep him. But if the Leafs are more worried about having Kerfoot for centre, then they'd do it.

That's a problem for after the next season. The Leafs can go hard on next season with their best players. After that, they can cross the trade Bill Ny or something bridge to fit under the following seasons CAP.

- GreatGigInTheSky

In order to keep a competitive team top to bottom, the leafs will have to move out a high end price tag in order to sign one.
Marner or willie would have to move out for Pietra.
With injuries weve seen the need for quality depth players or average player on lower lines.
You cant have all ahlers fill the 3rd and 4th lines

Kerfoot can play C.

The Leafs need a C and are deep on the wing. I keep Kerfoot all day.

Yeah, they were. But the death was quick and impressive.
- GreatGigInTheSky

players in thier 30s can fall off a cliff pretty quick I guess. the core is/was all pretty old.

if the leafs had a 15 year window like the sharks did we would be unbearable, despite not winning the cup

this was
Kerfoot
Tavares
Kadri

Kerfoot didnt get much PP time at all, but his 5v5 numbers were decent.
I think he is better as a C.

if you can replave him with a cheaper internal alternative, then sure. but pickings are slim atm

5v5

player a

player b
968min

one of these players is poop and not good

And it's certainly not the end of being smart, but here's a little good news:

Apparently Engvall can be trusted with 3C and then 2C if there are injuries.

My weird observation about Kerfoot:

Every once in a while, he completely walks around a defenceman.

The guy has good hands and speed.

I’m happy right now that we aren’t doing what they are doing.

But they could come out of this a lot better than we will with the measures they are taking.

If people think that the virus is going to go away after all of this, they're misinformed...

Flattening the curve just means you're spreading out the infections over a longer period of time. I'd wager that most of us get infected at some point of time or another before an effective vaccine is available.

The economy is important man. Real important.

Trump can go overboard if he wants but here in a Canada we will do it right. “Slowly”

People won’t be partying in the streets. But measures will be taken to start taking steps.
