Tanev is a solid defensive dman who breaks the puck out and defends well on a team that doesn't do that very well. He doesn't have to be offensively talented, why would he when he's paired with Hughes, that's Hughes job. He can't be everything...he only has to be solid at one end of the ice, which he is.

He has had one career fight and scores 11 pts a year on a good one .
You want to pay him for a good first pass and shot blocking.
Stecher has a good first pass pay him 4 mil too.
